He blocks the Rocker Dropper and puts on a half crab. Stradlin gets to the ropes. Kazarian hits a slingshot DDT for 2. Arrogance comes out and distracts him long enough for Stradlin to get a roll up for the win at 8:16. This was pretty lame compared to past Stradlin matches. Sadly he would never get another shot at redeeming himself.
Rating: *3/4

I didn’t like the finish and the match started REALLY slow, but everything in between was a decent amount of fun.

He drops Daniels’ head on the turnbuckle and calls for the package piledriver. Daniels blocks with a chinbreaker and rolls Steen up for the win at 12:41. The finish was weak, I just want to say that first. Daniels’ selling was pretty great, but the rest of the match felt like your random indy match. Steen’s transitions consisted mainly of yelling random things at the crowd and referee.
Rating: **
After the match Steen attacks Daniels. Gunning for Hookers and a couple referees make the save. Steen gets on the microphone and claims that Daniels cheated to win. He also has a problem with El Generico so he wants a three way dance with them next month. Daniels accepts. Commissioner Disco Machine takes offense to the wrestlers trying to make matches on their own, and says that next month he’s adding AJ Styles to the mix to make it a four way. Steen has to sit down to handle the news.
The PWG tag belts had been stolen and sold on eBay, so Disco Machine gives the tag team champions Arrogance some leather belts and bananas. He suggests they tape the bananas to the belts. It’s not good enough for Bosh, who goes on a racist rant while explaining their decision to have sex with Valentina rather than align with Frankie Kazarian.
VS.
Chris Bosh & Scott Lost (c) VS. Scorpio Sky & Quicksilver [PWG Tag Team Championship Match]
Sky and Quicksilver had beaten the Havana Pitbulls in a quick but intense match to get this title shot. Bosh and Quicksilver start. He reverses a dropkick to a gutbuster and hits a vertical suplex. Bosh tags in and hits a drop toehold to Sky onto Lost’s knee. He puts on a hammerlock facelock lock lock lock lock. Sky fights out and puts on a sleeper of his own. Lost hits a jawbreaker to escape. Sky hits a huge DDT and makes the tag to Quicksilver. They go for a double team move but Lost knocks Sky to the floor and helps Bosh get a roll up on Quicksilver for 2. Sky backdrops Lost on the floor as Bosh climbs the ropes. Quicksilver cuts him off and puts on a submission. Lost kicks him away but Sky comes out of nowhere with a hurricanrana on Bosh for 2. He hits a backbreaker on Lost for 2. Lost rolls Sky up and grabs Bosh’s hands on the floor to get the win at 17:52. This had spurts of greatness, but more stretches of lameness. Bosh in particular seemed pretty off tonight, both on the microphone and in the ring. The bits where they couldn’t decide whether or not to make the tag came off more bush league than funny. Word on the street is that the rematch is pretty phenomenal, but I’ll have to wait until a later review to find out for sure. After the match the AXP have a temper tantrum with chairs.

Super Dragon (c) VS. Samoa Joe [PWG Championship]
Joe beat Super Dragon by count out in a relatively disappointing match back at The Secret of the Ooze. He also beat American Dragon in a number one contender’s match at Uncanny X-Mas, and thus is getting this title shot. Dragon attacks Joe before the bell. He hits a running forearm and they trade strikes. Joe sweeps his legs and hits the Big Joe Combo for 2. Dragon tries to fight back but Joe stays in control with forearms. He hits a running forearm in the corner and washes Dragon’s face. Dragon dodges a clothesline and hits a Koppo kick. He hits a hurricanrana and blocks a big boot to hit a dragon screw. Joe bails and Dragon follows him out with a tope con hilo. Back in the ring Dragon goes for the Psycho driver but Joe blocks. Dragon goes for the Curb Stomp but Joe blocks that as well. Joe goes for the overhead suplex to the floor but Dragon fears it and blocks. Joe hits the STJoe and Dragon bails. Joe follows him out with a suicide dive. Joe gets back into the ring and they tease a Dragon count out but he gets back in at 18. Joe kicks at Dragon’s face and hits a powerbomb for 2. He puts on the STF but Dragon gets to the ropes. Dragon hits a hard forearm but runs into a powerslam. It gets 2. Dragon skins the cat and hits a top rope leg lariat for 2. He goes for the Psycho driver but Joe blocks. Dragon manages to hit the Curb Stomp this time for 2. He climbs the ropes and hits a double stomp to the back of the head for 2. He sets Joe up top and hits a butterfly superplex. Impressive visual there. It gets 2. Joe hits a DVD for 2 and makes a Tony Soprano desperation face. That’s awesome. Dragon hits a roaring forearm and a second rope forearm. He hits another forearm and Joe goes down. He hits the Psycho driver and Joe slowly rolls to the floor. Dragon follows him out and Joe regains his senses enough to pummel Dragon down. The count gets to 19 and Dragon rushes the ring, knocking Joe off the apron and winning the match by count out at 13:49. This match built upon itself and the first match very well. They fit about as much as they could into the time they had given themselves, and the end result was a more satisfying match than the original. After seeing this I now feel that these two could put on something pretty special, and hopefully they’ll get a chance to down the road.

After the match the evil Red Super Dragon attacks our hero Super Dragon again, after leaving him alone for a month. He hits him with the Curb Stomp. Disco Machine makes the save.
Highlighting the banana on the main page will reveal following backstage shenanigans.
Christopher Daniels talks about his upcoming match against Kevin Steen, El Generico and AJ Styles. He talks about how he can handle all of them, but makes me wonder what lies between here and there. Apparently the match is now a number one contender’s match.
Frankie Kazarian isn’t going to make any excuses for losing to Tony Stradlin, but he’s going to bitch about Arrogance for a bit. Next month he’s picking a partner to take them on.
Alex Shelley, during his time away from TNA because Dusty Rhodes wasn’t high on X-Division guys, is happy to be in PWG where he can wrestle his style of match.
Roderick Strong says he only gave Ricky Reyes a little of what he has, but admits that Reyes is a tough SOB. He’ll be back whenever PWG wants him.
Disco Machine is on the phone with someone. Kevin Steen comes up to him and says that while he has no problem wrestling Generico and Daniels, he has a big problem wrestling AJ Styles. He hates his hair and his accent and he thinks he sucks. It turns out that Disco is on the phone with Styles, so Steen professes his love for him over the phone and runs away. Cute.
The Reference
A revue is a type of theatrical entertainment that combines music, dance and sketches that satirize contemporary figures, news or literature. In an all nude review the performers are naked. In All Nude Review the performers, thankfully, were not. Well, Talwar got close, but not so close that I had to boycott the company or anything.
The 411: The main event here is a solid improvement over the original, and this time actually made me want to see another match between the two. The eight-man tag and the tag team match both also had their moments. The Canadians disappointed, and Stradlin went out with a whimper instead of a bang, but the show built to next month nicely and did so with a few pretty good matches. Mild recommendation here. You can pick this show up at Blue Thunder Video, PWG's Website or Highspots.com. |
