Bully Ray Suggests How WWE Should Rethink the Draft
– Speaking on Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray suggested how WWE should rethink its usual WWE Draft, and use a draft as a way to bring up NXT Superstars. Meanwhile, WWE could bring back the Superstar Shakeup to switch rosters among the main roster. Below are some highlights (via WrestlingInc.com):
Bully Ray on how WWE should rethink the Draft: “I gave it some thought about the word ‘draft. When we think of ‘draft,’ [we think of] people from college coming up, new people, fresh people, young blood, and that really pertains to NXT. But when it comes to the main roster, it’s really not a draft. It’s more of a shakeup. [Maybe] WWE does a two-day draft event, but maybe call one night the Superstar Shakeup [and the other], the actual draft.”
On how WWE should use a bingo wheel for a roster shakeup: “You spin the wheel, out comes the name and that person is on Raw. Spin the wheel, out comes the name. That person is on SmackDown. Make it as unpredictable as you possibly can to the fanbase. And I think that covers it where we’re not just drafting the same person to the same brand [or] they’re just heading over to a different night.”
WWE wrapped up this year’s Draft earlier this week on Raw. Further roster changes are also possible until the new rosters lock on May 6.
