Trick Williams and Je’Von Evans are new to the WWE main roster, but Cody Rhodes doesn’t see them as “green” anymore. Williams and Evans were among those NXT talent who moved up in January, with Evans joining the Raw roster and Williams signing with Smackdown. Both men were competitors in the men’s Elimination Chamber match on Saturday.

Cody Rhodes spoke with UnSportsmanLike before Elimination Chamber and was asked about working with green talent in a match like the Chamber. He noted that he doesn’t see the two as green and explained why. You can see the highlights below:

On the ‘Green’ Up and Comers Like Evans and Williams:

“Well I mean, I’ll be honest and maybe I’m speaking with too much confidence. I don’t think they’re green anymore. And the reason I say that — I think Je’Von is young. Young at heart and incredibly goofy and Je’Von. But Shawn Michaels had those guys long enough to let them cook and let them bake.

On Williams:

“Trick is ready. Trick is — I mean, not just from the perspective of ‘Oh cool, they say the phrase.’ Because I’ve had so many different wrestlers I’ve seen through the years where they say the phrase or they sing the song, and then nothing. And you don’t want to be the Catchphrase Merchant. He’s got more than that going on for himself. He’s very, very ready, from the ability to market himself for WWE to lead WWE in the future.”

On Evans:

“And Je’Von’s someone that athletically? I caught myself watching his match this past week. Je’Von can do things that no one currently is doing in the wrestling space. And you go all the way back to like a Dynamite Kid when you first saw that, or Tiger Mask. And then you turn around and AJ Styles, who we just put in the Hall of Fame. When styles change, everyone looks and Je’Von is changing styles.

“I feel a little strange ’cause we both do — he does his and I do a Cody Cutter off the top, but his is so much better. Mine will get the job done, but his is so much better. He’s phenomenal.”
