– Just about 24-hours after the completion of night one, CHIKARA made the rough cut of the show available for purchase. Night two was made available on Sunday afternoon. That’s a hell of a turn around, and they should be commended for that. You can order here.
Deonna Purazzo vs. Crazy Mary Dobson : Dobson has reportedly been signed by WWE and will be reporting in late September or early October. Purazzo is on the radar of pretty much everyone, she works everywhere and had gotten good looks from both WWE and TNA. It’s only a matter of time before someone locks her up. They worked a solid back and forth, with Dobson eventually sending Purazzo to the ropes throat first, and then took the heat. Dobson then controlled, using head butts and kicks; she also got a near fall off of the fisherman’s suplex. Dobson’s offense is sketchy at times, either looking really light or missing way too obviously. Purazzo made her comeback, they traded strikes, and then the Russian leg sweep got 2 for Purazzo. Dobson hit a fisherman’s suplex out of the corner and then rolled into the fisherman’s buster for a near fall. Dobson tried for an electric chair, but fell forward and dropped Purazzo. She then set Purazzo in the corner and missed the double stomp; Purazzo got a rough looking Gedo clutch for the win. That was really rough around the edges, and never had a consistent flow. These two did not work well together. Dobson is going to need a lot of polish once she gets to developmental.
Hallowicked, Icarus & Jigsaw vs. Major League Moustache (Dasher Hatfield, Trent Seven & Tyler Bate): We got the big brawl to begin, with the Gen1 stars taking the fight to Major League Moustache. It went to the floor, where Seven hit a suicide dive. Bate and Jigsaw returned to the ring, Jigsaw was tossed and Bate then hit a huge dive onto the pile. Bate and Seven hit the piledriver into another piledriver, but Hallowicked made the save and he and Jigsaw attacked Hatfield, who fought back but the numbers eventually got to him as they hit a total elimination for a near fall. The Gen1 stars took the heat, working quick tags and making sure t isolate Hatfield. Hallowicked then attacked the mask of Hatfield, continuing their theme of punishment and embarrassment on their opponents. I love the aggression of the Gen1 stars here; Jigsaw worked a modified rings of Saturn and tried to remove the mask again. Hatfield countered a monkey flip into a jackhammer for a great double down and then the hot tag. Bate and Seven both in, double teaming Hallowicked, Jigsaw in and they took him out and scored a near fall. It broke down; Icarus hit the sliced bread on Bate for a near fall. Seven made the save, but ate a spear by Icarus as it broke down into the signature move buffet. Bate and Seven ran wild on Hallowicked, but Jigsaw broke things up with a double stomp off the top. Awesome pacing here, Jigsaw went up top but cut off by Seven and they battled up top, with Seven hitting a piledriver off the second rope, but Icarus pulled out the ref. Icarus in and hit the blu-ray to the corner, Hatfield in and hit a sweet Liger bomb. Hallowicked in now, turns Hatfield’s mask to the side and then hit never wake up on Hatfield and the Gen1 stars advance. That was an excellent match, with the Gen1 stars working super aggressively and doing anything they can to win. The final four minutes were all money, great stuff here.
Mark Angelosetti vs. Missile Assault Man: Angelosetti went on the attack right away, with both men going to the floor for the brawl. Assault Man fought back, but when they returned to the ring they worked back and forth. Assault Man worked the Garvin stomp, with the crowd spelling out his name as he did so. Angelosetti cut him off, and followed by choking out Assault Man in the ropes. Solid heat by Angelosetti, Assault man quickly came back and hit the northern lights suplex and rolled into a second and then a third with the bridge for 2. The Finlay roll followed, and that got 2. Angelosetti countered the missile launcher into the flea flicker for a near fall. Angelosetti then hit the missile launcher, got the roll up and the tights but only got 2. Assault Man fired back with an uppercut for the near fall. More uppercuts followed, they went back and forth as they fought up top and Angelosetti teased a powerbomb; Assault Man stopped that and landed uppercuts and then went for an inverted superplex but Angelosetti landed on his feet and then finished with the colossal bomb for the win. This was a pretty good match overall, nothing wrong with it really, but I had issues really getting into what they had laid out. They did good things, but they never connected it together well enough to allow it to have a good flow.
– Max Smashmaster came out and threatened to hurt ring announcer Vlad Radinov, he wanted re-signed to CHIKARA. Princess Kimberlee arrived and wanted him reinstated by Director of Fun Mike Quackenbush, who was trying to so Max, so that she can get revenge
Warriors Three (The Estonian Thunderfrog, Princess Kimberlee, & Oleg the Usurper) vs. Team Original Divas Revolution (Mickie James, Victoria & Jazz: Kimberlee and Victoria started, working some nice back and forth mat wrestling. Victors then worked into the last chancery for a bit, but Kimberlee escaped and Thunderfrog tagged in. he took control, hitting the lariat and northern lights suplex for 2. Victoria worked the tarantula, went for the widow’s peak but Thunderfrog escaped. He then hit the Estonian stampede, and went up top but missed the Thunderfrog splash, rolled through but ate a Thesz press form James for 2. Good fire form James, sending Thunderfrog to the floor and Oleg then made his way in. Jazz asked for the tag and wanted to go one on one with the big man. Jazz lit him up with strikes and kicks, but got cut off with the side back breaker. He missed the running senton, and Jazz attacked the knee and locked in STF. Oleg managed an Usurper kick, and then tagged din KimberLee. She and Jazz battled over a suplex, with Jazz hitting a fisherman’s buster for a near fall. James tagged in, hitting a basement dropkick for 2. KimberLee looked to land suplexes, but James escaped and Victoria then came in and hit the spinning side slam for a near fall. She tossed KimberLee around, they then traded chops and James tagged back in as they worked the heat on KimberLee. James worked the camel clutch, working the count as she repeatedly grabs the hair and then curb stomps KimberLee to the mat. The original Revolution worked quick tags, working over KimberLee in their corner. They did some nice heel tag team work, taking the ref and such. Thunderfrog jumped n with the hammer of peace, hitting the mat and saving KimberLee as the heels took bumps and were sent to the floor. Victoria kissed Thunderfrog, and then James. Jazz then came in and kicked him in the face. They all attacked Oleg, and they then sent him to the floor. KimberLee returned and hit a bridging German on James as she and her team were celebrating for the win. This was an odd match, they did a lot of good things, but it felt too long and they got too cute in the middle of this, which really took away from my enjoyment. Mickie James was great both nights, looks in great shape and appears as if she still has a lot to offer. Jazz and Victoria were there.
Frightmare vs. Space Monkey vs. Candice LeRae vs. Tony Nese: For those that do not know, Space Monkey is a cruiserweight style monkey who wrestlers in a space suit, because he’s an astronaut who was sent into space and suffered a mutation that turned him into a luchadore. Space Monkey is amazing, taking a break to eat a banana and then used it to make LaRae slip ad hit a moonsault for a near fall. The Rey de Voladores is a ton of fun, the definition of an athletic exhibition with everyone fighting to survive and impress along the way. Nese got to show off his power as well as his speed and agility, making a good first impression on the CHIKARA crowd. Nese didn’t want o fight LaRae, but she was more than ready to do battle and used Nese to hit a RANA onto Frightmare, sending him to the floor. Nese again was hesitant to fight LaRae, he eventually Herc’d her up and single arm powerbombed her to the floor onto the others. Space Monkey bitch slapped Frightmare with his tail, but he was eliminated by Nese with a pump-handle reverse piledriver. The crowd did not like that. Frightmare tossed Nese, leading to he and LaRae working a stretch. LaRae hit the violence party and then hit the dive onto Nese. He then hit a series of balls plexes to Frightmare, but he cut her off with the lariat and then LeRae was eliminated after the Friggin’ Sweet Driver. Frightmare and Nese brawled on the floor after a Frightmare dive, and when they returned to the ring Nese took back control. Nese started to put together a good run, scoring near falls, but Frightmare fought back and they traded a series of counters, with Nese hitting the pump handle driver for a near fall. Frightmare fought back with the running knee strike, which got a good near fall. Frightmare up top, cut off by Nese who follows; Nese then knocked into the tree of WHOA, but fought back and hit the spider German. Nese missed the 450, and was finally eliminated by Frightmare with Kneecolepsy. This was a lot of fun, they got the time to work and held off of the lame rapid-fire eliminations, and allowed everyone some time to shine. This was a very good match and just plain fun, with the right amount of quality action and shenanigans mixed in.
Team JWP (Hanako Nakamori, Manami Katsu & Command Bolshoi) vs. The United Nations (Juan Francisco de Coronado, The Proletariat Boar of Moldova & Prakash Sabar): Nakamori and Sabar started, they traded kicks with Nakamori getting the better of things Bolshoi and The Boar then tagged in, Boar made fun of Bolshoi for being short and that led to her using her speed to frustrate him. Bolshoi tried to work an arm bar in the ropes and then did the praying rope walk around the ring and then hit the RANA. Katsu worked over Coronado and his team was not interested in helping him at all. It broke down as JWP worked over Sabar. They then beat on the Boar as he entered, hitting a triple dropkick. The Boar finally used his power and size advantage and leveled all three with clotheslines. The Boar and Sabar worked over Nakamori, and then Coronado tagged in and he continued the heat, dragging her around by the hair. Joey Styles constantly calling Sabar a Sean Waltman rip off was amusing. It broke down as Nakamori worked a submission, this is really lacking here, it is fine, but I keep waiting for this to pick up or get some real energy, but it just keeps going into three on one spots that seemingly get cut off al the time by the heels. It also feels really lethargic, like they set the stage and then you keep waiting for it to really get going, but it stays in gear one. There were also some miscommunication issues, which made it very clunky. It broke down, the Boar tossed Bolshoi around into her partners and then Coronado got the German onto both Nakamori and Katsu for the near fall. Sabar hit the x-factor, Boar hit the spear but Bolshoi then countered the Coronado clutch and picked up the win. In the end this was a below average and disjointed effort. I think part of this was the fact that they had issues getting on the same page, which resulted is the work not being smooth and that led to the communication issues that they had. This was not bad, but lacking compared to most of the card.
– Post match, Juan Francisco de Coronado broke up with The Proletariat Boar of Moldova & Prakash Sabar.
Aero Star vs. Amasis vs. Johnny Gargano vs. Wani: Right away they made this different from the previous qualifier, with the guys actually working one on one and using the tag rules. It’s a really simple thing, but I appreciate the fact that they are able to try and make the matches feel different. Gargano is also a champ, still working with the taped up knee and selling the Takeover/CWC knee injury angle. Amasis had some fun early trying to remove Gargano’s kick pads. Once they really got going, Gargano and Amasis worked a great fast paced back and forth, mixing in cradles for near falls. Aero Star and Wani then went back and forth, with Aero Star hitting a corkscrew splash for a near fall. They did a lot of quick in and out, constantly changing partners as they broke away from the slow start, and picking up the pacing nicely. Aero Star was really bringing the lucha fun here. Adding a nice change of pace to the regular fast paced action as things settled back down for a short time. The pace picked back up as Gargano ran wild and got a near fall off of the springboard DDT. At about 10-minutes in all four were brawling center ring, and then they all went for and hit superkicks and everyone was down. As the others fought to the floor, Amasis hit a dive to wipe out the pile. Amasis was attacked by Frightmare on the floor, and due to that was unable to continue after, and he was eliminated him from the match. Commentary sold that these two had issues in the past to explain the attack, but it came off a bit flat. Aero Star and Wani worked back and forth, Gargano returned as took out Wani. Gargano picked up the pace and hit the flatliner/DDT combo for a near fall. Aero Star then hit a Nestea plunge to the floor onto Gargano and Wani, dude has no fear. Gargano then cut off Aero Star with the spear and hit a suicide dive onto Wani, which was done so smoothly. Gargano hit the lawn dart on Aero Star, but Gargano was then eliminated by Wani with a running neck breaker after attacking the knee of Gargano. Jonathan Wrestling giving back before going to WWE full time is a great thing. Also the fact that he’s selling the nee outside of WWE is so great. Nice closing stretch between Aero Star and Wani, including a great step up dive from Aero Star. Finally, Wani was eliminated by Aero Star with the springboard double knees. This was great overall, everyone got a lot of time to shine and they delivered the style the match calls for. I think it could have benefited from being a little bit shorter (the middle had some drag factor), but the right man won and I enjoyed this.
Team SENDAI Girls (Meiko Satomura, DASH Chisako & Cassandra Miyagi) defeated The Colony (Fire Ant, Soldier Ant & Silver Ant): Chisako and Soldier Ant started, with Chisako using her speed and hitting a series of RANAs for a near fall. it was all Sendai Girls early, using their speed and Miyagi tossing around Fire Ant by his antenna. Silver Ant finally cut her off, but then both teams took turns hitting the ring, leading to Silver Ant hitting the blue thunder driver on Chisako for a near fall. The Colony then took the heat on Chisako, working the knee. They worked quick tags and kept the focus on the leg. Chisako tried to come back and attacked the injured arm of Silver Ant. Soldier got the tag, and went right back to work on the knee. Nice heat segment, with Fire Ant adding the quicker action before tagging out so that the others could continue the work on the leg of Chisako. Chisako finally hit a desperation cutter, and Satomura got the hot tag and she and Miyagi cleared the ring and took control. Fire Ant made the save and traded kicks with Satomura, and she then slammed Fire Ant onto Silver Ant. Miyagi tagged in and distracted Fire Ant, allowing Chisako for a near fall. Miyagi with a slingshot senton also scored 2. Fire Ant hit the superman punch, but Miyagi fought back before eating a missile dropkick from Silver Ant. Miyagi ate Ants marching, but Satomura made the made the save. The Colony then hit a series of suplexes on her, but she escaped the marching powerbomb and connected with a series of kicks. Fire Ant rushed in and took her head off with a kick and then got the near fall off of the brain buster. Chisako back in, and like last night not selling the knee. She ran wild, and scored a near fall on Fire Ant. The Colony hit the marching powerbomb, and Silver Ant hit the splash for the near fall. it broke down, Soldier and Fire Ant sent to the floor, Satomura attacked the arm of Silver Ant, they hit the assisted splash and then a frog splash and then a double stomp to the shoulder for a near fall as the rest of the Colony makes the save. This has escalated quickly. Chisako then locked in an arm bar on Silver Ant, Miyagi and Satomura took the others to the floor, but Silver Ant made the ropes. Satomura back in, Silver Ant fought her off and the Colony hit the stacked Giant chokeslam for the near fall as Satomura made the save again. It came down to Silver Ant and Chisako, who countered the cloverleaf into a cradle for a great near fall. This is tremendous. As the others continued to brawl on the floor, Chisako and Silver Ant traded forearms, but Silver Ant hit the dragon screw leg whip, but was till favoring the arm. Silver Ant locked in the calf killer, but Chisako kicked away at his shoulder and then caught him with the arm bar and Silver Ant tapped. This was awesome, the Colony were the right team to work with the Sendai Girls, as they worked together almost flawlessly and it never felt slow or long. The action constantly escaped to the finish, with the Sendai Girls scoring the win working the already established injury of Silver Ant. The work was great, could have been even better if Chisako had sold the knee more, but they escalated to the finish and went home at the right time to end this on a high note. This was another excellent main event, made possible by the great work but also more importantly the right pairing to allow this to succeed.
– End scene.
