– Follow all of my reviews at this link.

– Renee Young, Peter Rosenberg, Jerry Lawler, and Shawn Michaels are on the pre-show panel. They run down the card. You can tell Lawler still doesn’t watch Smackdown, as he looks like he doesn’t know anyone on the team.

– We get highlights of Smackdown invading Raw and the issues with New Day and The Shield.

– The panel breaks down The New Day vs. Shield, with HBK discussing how New Day has matured and have a chance against the Shield tonight. Rosenberg puts over New Day’s unity and how they have never turned on each other. HBK says he’s a Raw guy and has been for his whole WWE career, and that the battle between the brands is real. Lawler questions Corey Graves’ loyalty.

– The Miz will be in the social media lounge later tonight.

– We get move videos of the Smackdown invasion of Raw.

– Natalya tries to rally team Smackdown, but they want no part of it. The ladies are largely unified, rally up and all of that. They teased Tamina battling Nia Jax, that could be bad.

– We get a recap of Charlotte winning the title on Smackdown.

– Alexa Bliss arrives, and says she was preparing for Natalya, and not Charlotte. She says it isn’t fair, but will prove she’s the superior champion. HBK stands up for Alexa when Renee brings up the size issue. Charlotte joins us from backstage. Charlotte says Bliss won’t be running tonight, and doesn’t wear costumes; she doesn’t dress up like a superhero, she’s a Flair. She’s the grand slam women’s champion. Bliss says she knows Charlotte is a legacy, but will prove her superiority tonight. Charlotte asks where Bliss was when the revolution started, and Bliss says she has blown past all of them and will send Charlotte back to the stables.

– Elias buries Houston and sings a song, burying Texas until Matt Hardy interrupts.

Matt Hardy vs. Elias: They work basic back and forth, with matt grounding things. Matt hits a Russian leg sweep, and then an elbow off the second rope, and covers for 2. Post break, and Matt is still in control, hitting a fist drop and covering for 2. Elias battles back, stuns Matt off the ropes and works over Matt on the apron, targeting the arm. Elias grounds the action, and continues to focus on the arm. I feel bad for these two, there’s barely anyone in the building. Elias slams Matt arm first to the buckles, and covers for 2. Elias busts out a shoulder breaker, covering for 2. Matt hits a desperation side effect on the apron, back in the ring and Matt works over Elias with rights, slams him to the buckles and tries to fire up the dozens of people in the building. Matt hits a bulldog, and another side effect gets 2. Matt with boots, hits a second rope elbow drop, and that gets 2. Matt looks for a twist of fate, but Elias counters and posts the bad arm. Drift away connects and Matt is done. Elias defeated Matt Hardy @ 9:10 via pin [**] This was a good win for Elias, as Matt is in limbo without Jeff. The match was ok, solid work from Elias, but it just sort of existed. Matt’s selling of the arm was good though.

– They hype the card again.

– The Miz joins the social media lounge. Miz talks about his issues with baron Corbin. He’s done talking and will prove his superiority in the ring. Corbin made things personal, and he will unleash his hate on Corbin tonight. He says his goal is to make the IC title the most prestigious title in WWE. He puts pressure on himself, and has since day one, and that’s why he has outlasted so many that told him he didn’t belong. He’s always the main event, no matter what match he’s in. Whatever show he’s on is the number one show, and Raw will be superior over Smackdown tonight.

– Enzo does his usual shtick on the way to the ring.

WWE Cruiserweight Championship Kickoff Show Match: Champion Enzo Amore vs. Kalisto: Enzo attacks at the bell, working over Kalisto in the corner. Kalisto battles back with kicks, teases salida del sol, but Enzo powders to the floor. Kalisto follows, chases Enzo and back in and scores with a sunset bomb for 2. Enzo stuns Kalisto off the ropes, and we take a break. Post break and Enzo hits a short armed clothesline, covering for 2. The side slam follows, and Enzo again, covers for 2. Enzo grounds the action with a side headlock, Enzo puts Kalisto into the tree of WHOA, hits a running forearm and covers for 2. Enzo now works a modified camel clutch, and then into a side headlock. Kalisto hits a stunner, but Enzo slams him down and cuts him off. Back to the tree of WHOA for Kalisto, Enzo misses the charge and Kalisto heads up top and hits a moonsault press, but can’t cover. Kalisto lays in kicks, hits the head scissors and hits the rolling DVD and kick. The spiked RANA follows and Kalisto is fired up. Enzo counters salida del sol and they brawl to the apron. Big rights follow by Enzo, but Kalisto counters soul food by Enzo slams Kalisto to metal part of the buckles. Soul food connects and Enzo retains. Champion Enzo Amore defeated Kalisto @ 8:54 via pin [**½] This felt like one of Enzo’s better outings, even though it was an overall average match. Enzo often over does the heel routine, and it takes away from his matches. They went less is more here, and they were better for it.

– Back to the talking heads.

– Sami and Kevin cut a promo, they didn’t come to WWE to complete with clowns like Breeze and Fandango. They are insulted, because they are the best on Smackdown. Owens says this is the building he won his IC & Universal titles. They should be making history, leading team Smackdown, but they aren’t because of Shane McMahon. They claim that Shane is running an unsafe work environment, which is why they escaped on Smackdown. It was not their fight or their problem. Breeze and Fandango arrive, and say that Sami and Kevin are harassing the WWE Universe. Breeze runs then down for unmanicured facial hair. Fandango calls Sami a paperboy, and says they will save Survivor Series from fashion offenders.

Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn vs. The Fashion Police (Tyler Breeze & Fandango): Fandango sends both to the floor right away and they issue tickets to Kevin and Sami. Post break, and the Fashion police are in control, working over Sami. Sami bails to the floor, Breeze chases and brings him back in. Owens distracts him allowing Sami to take him down and work mounted strikes. Owens tags in and lays the boots to Breeze. Owens and Sami work quick tags, isolating Breeze and keeping him grounded in their half of the ring. Breeze catches Sami with a boot, but Sami drags him back to his corer, and Owens tags in and hits the senton for 2. Owens works the chinlock. Breeze finally fights to his feet, gets tripped up but Breeze counters the senton with his knees. We get wholesale changes to Fandango and Sami. Fandango fires up with jabs, he takes out Owens and hits a missile dropkick on Sami. The tornado DDT gets 2. Breeze and Owens battle to the floor, Fandango up top but misses the leg drop as Owens saves Sami, Owens hits the pop up powerbomb for the win. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn defeated The Fashion Police @ 8:28 via pin [**¾] Pretty good match here, with the crowd invested and clean and fun tag action. They just never turned it up to the next level to make it anything more than pretty good.

– AJ cuts a promo on his match with Brock tonight. Jinder Mahal arrives, stands there, and says nothing; his best promo of the year.

– We get hype for Lesnar vs. Styles.

– The New Day vs. The Shield opens the show.

THE REGULAR PPV STARTS NOW
– New Day cuts a promo, saying that tonight, they will prove that they are the most dominant three-man faction in WWE history. They mock the Raw invasion of Smackdown, and say that they will go Bob Barker on their ass. They also note that the Shield will turn on each other on the road to Mania.

– And now, a video package.

The New Day vs. The Shield: Kofi and Ambrose begin. They lock up, work some basic back and forth until Ambrose drops Kofi with a slap. Woods tags in, as does Rollins. They do some back and forth until Rollins connects with a clothesline. Big E and Reigns tag in. They lock up, and look to go power for power. Reigns hits a shoulder block, but Big E hits one and takes him down. Reigns fires up and they talk trash, Reigns hits a Samoan drop, covering for 2. It breaks down, and the Shield clears the ring and isolates Woods. They beat him down in their corner and do the stampede of stomps on him. Reigns follows with a clothesline, and quick tags follow with Rollins and Ambrose working double teams, covering for 2. Woods tags in Kofi, he flies in and runs wild. The boom drop connects on Ambrose. Trouble in paradise misses, Ambrose teases dirty deeds but Big E tags in. New Day works the corner stampede, taking control and working quick tags. Ambrose battles back, but Woods cuts him off. Another stampede follows on Ambrose, and Woods hits a corner dropkick. Rollins and Reigns attack, and they brawl to the floor as Ambrose hits a dive. Big E hits the spear to the floor on Ambrose. Big E rolls in Ambrose, and covers for 2. He rips off his shirt, but Ambrose fires up with chops, but Big E cuts him off and tags in Woods. New Day looks for midnight hour, Big E grabs up Rollins and Ambrose and New Day hit the double midnight hour but Reigns spears Big E and makes the save. Everyone is down. Reigns tags in and all six get to their feet and it breaks down into a big brawl. Woods gets taken out, as does Big E. Reigns and Kofi work back and forth bit Reigns spears Kofi. The SUPER Shield bomb follows off the ropes and Kofi is dead. The Shield wins. The Shield defeated New Day @ 21:35 via pin [****] This ended up being a great match, as expected. The Shield was back to form, New Day delivered once again and you couldn’t ask for a better match to kick off the show. The pacing was great, we good some excellent near falls and this delivered just as I hoped it would. This was great work from all involved, New Day has put together a great year of PPV matches that doesn’t get talked about as much as it should.

– Stephanie hypes up the Raw women, and instructs them to break bones and get the job done tonight.

Survivor Series Elimination Match: Alicia Fox, Nia Jax, Sasha Banks, Asuka, and Bayley vs. Becky Lynch, Carmella, Tamina, Naomi, and Natalya: Fox and Becky start things off, with Fox taking early control. Alicia Fox, Nia Jax, Sasha Banks, Asuka, and Bayley defeated Becky Lynch, Carmella, Tamina, Naomi, and Natalya @ 18:25 via pin [**¼] Asuka being the lone survivor was the right call here. That was the best thing about this, As for the actual match, I felt that it just sort of existed, it had fun parts, but the Fox and Tamina stuff was largely bad and the eliminations largely fell flat.

– Raw is up 2-0.

– Stephanie meets with Daniel Bryan and says Raw will run the table. They banter about nepotism, and who the best brand is.

The Miz vs. Baron Corbin: Dallas and Axel are out with Miz. Maryse is in the crowd. They brawl to begin, with Corbin taking control early. Axel distracts Corbin allowing Miz to battle back. They brawl on the floor as Corbin takes control and beats on Miz in front of Maryse, he blows a kiss to her and talks some shit to Maryse. That fires Miz up, as he attacks and works over Corbin at ringside. Corbin quickly cuts him off, sending Miz back to the floor. Back in and Corbin works Miz over in the corner with strikes, but Miz takes out Corbin’s knee and sends him to the floor. Miz follows but Corbin avoids him, and tosses Miz back in. Miz now lays in kicks on Corbin, Corbin avoids the big kick, Miz hits corner clothesline and runs into end of days and Corbin wins. Baron Corbin defeated The Miz @ 9:25 via pin [**½] This was solid overall, but it had some really odd flow issues early on. They settled in well enough, and I appreciated the clean finish; it was fine.

– Raw is up 2-1. Post match, Corbin mocks Miz for losing.

– Paul Heyman cuts a promo on tonight’s show, and tonight’s Styles vs. Lesnar match. He puts over Styles, but says when the bell ring, he’ll be in for a fight with a beast and conqueror.

Sheamus & Cesaro vs. The Usos: This had a ton of potential to be great, as both teams have delivered this year on PPV. Jimmy and Sheamus to begin. Sheamus overpowers him to begin, but Jimmy fires away with strikes and Jey tags in, and they work over Sheamus with double teams. Sheamus fires up and hits a clothesline, Cesaro tags in but Jey cuts him off and tags Jimmy in. They double team Cesaro in their corner, but Cesaro fires up and lays in uppercuts, tagging in Sheamus. The Bar tosses Jimmy, Jey fights off a doomsday and hits a Samoan drop off of Cesaro’s shoulders on Sheamus, leading to a near fall. Sheamus stops Jey from tagging Jimmy in, but Jimmy hits an enziguri and double superkicks connect on Cesaro, Superkicks to Sheamus, the suicide dive and top rope splash secure the win for the Usos. The Usos defeated The Bar @ 16:04 via pin [***½] This was an overall very good match, with a strong pacing leading to the heated home stretch and really fun finish. I’d love to see them face off again down the line, because I think there’s more potential for greatness between the four.

– It’s 2-2 now.

– Sad Jason Jordan gives an interview. He says he’s 100% and if anything happens, and If Team Raw needs him he’s there. He wants team Raw to win, but hopes Triple H gets eliminated first.

Alexa Bliss vs. Charlotte: Charlotte sends Bliss to the floor, and we get some stalling. Bliss back in and they work to the ropes. They lockup again, and they trade strikes as Bliss heads to the apron. Charlotte follows, but Bliss grabs the arm, leaping to the floor and taking control. This allows Bliss to take control, with Bliss working the arm and ribs to keep Charlotte grounded. Bliss maintains control, talking smack as the pacing slows. Bliss sends Charlotte to the buckles, Bliss to the ropes but Charlotte counters the tornado DDT and suplexes Bliss to the ropes. Charlotte up top, but Bliss crotches her into the tree of WHOA and hits a dropkick. Bliss up top now, Charlotte starts moving so Bliss drops down with knee and hits the moonsault knees, covering for 2. Charlotte cuts off code red, looks for a powerbomb but Bliss gets a RANA and into a roll up for 2. Bliss hits code red, covering for 2. Charlotte counters the DDT, lays in chops and Bliss lays in strikes and locks on a guillotine. Charlotte slowly fights to her feet, and counters out into a sitout powerbomb, covering for 2. Bliss fires back with a right, but Charlotte hits natural selection for 2. Charlotte heads up top now, but misses the moonsault. Bliss covers for 2. Bliss backs away now, but then hits the right and the DDT, but Charlotte gets a leg on the ropes. Bliss throws tantrum, and Charlotte hits a spear, but only gets 2. Bliss talks shit and attacks the back, Bliss heads up top and twisted bliss eats knees. Charlotte hits the big boot, and locks in the figure eight and Bliss taps. Charlotte defeated Alexa Bliss @ 15:40 via submission [**¾] Alexa Bliss vs. Charlotte was an overall pretty good match, they did a good job of playing around the size difference, but think that it went a bit too long. I’m glad they were given time, but it was too much, leading to some of the work not being nearly as smooth as it could have been. It needed some editing time wise, as I think a more concentrated match would have come off better.

– Smackdown is up 3-2.

Brock Lesnar vs. AJ Styles: Lesnar attacks rights away, laying in knee strikes and tossing Styles around. It’s all Lesnar early, as he’s cut off Styles and starts dragging him around. Lesnar then tosses Styles across the ring with an overhead belly to belly. Lesnar hits a German and then tosses Styles to the floor. Lesnar follows, slam Styles off of an announce table and rolls him back in. Lesnar hits release German and Styles has no idea who or where he is. Lesnar hits a running knee strike, but Styles keeps trying to pull himself up. Lesnar counters Styles’ strikes and takes him down again. Styles finally fires up, lays in strikes, but Lesnar cuts him off. Lesnar looks for an F5, but Styles escapes and Lesnar misses a knee strike, Styles attacks the knee and follows with a DDT. Styles now lays in leg kicks, the enziguri follows and then get botchy on the asai DDT and tornado DDT attempt. That wasn’t pretty. Styles hits a PELE, he springboards in and gets caught with a release German. Lesnar charges and ends up over the ropes (not pretty) and on the floor. Styles hits a slingshot forearm to the floor. Styles slams Lesnar to the steps and then hits a running forearm off of the steps. Back in and Lesnar lays in strikes, but Styles hits an enziguri. The asai moonsault connects and then Styles hits the springboard 450 but Lesnar kicks out at 2. Styles looks for the clash, but Lesnar counters but Styles rolls into the calf crusher. Lesnar fights, and starts slamming Styles’ head off the mat repeatedly to escape. Lesnar looks for the F5, Styles escapees and hits the springboard forearm for a great near fall. Styles to the apron again, springboard but Lesnar catches him and hits the F5 for the win. Brock Lesnar defeated AJ Styles @ 15:25 via pin [****] This was a great match, that would have been excellent if it wasn’t for the botchy moments, which held it back. The layout was excellent, with Styles overcoming the odds and giving Lesnar a great fight before the well done finish. The crowd was also really into it, especially down the stretch when AJ was running wild. Had they avoided the botches on the DDT spots and when Lesnar was dumped to the floor, I would have easily called this excellent. Brock felt motivated and AJ was simply awesome. It was a ton of fun that’s for sure and had a great vibe to it throughout. I’d love to see a rematch.

– We’re tied 3-3 heading to the main event.

Survivor Series Elimination Match: Kurt Angle, Braun Strowman, Finn Balor, Samoa Joe, and Triple H vs. Shane McMahon, Randy Orton, Shinsuke Nakamura, Bobby Roode, and John Cena: Angle’s right leg is heavily taped up tonight. Triple His too cool for school, refusing to wear the regular Raw logo shirt. At least his new special shirt is red. Shane has his special baseball jersey and Cena is wearing his own special shirt as well. Shane attacks Braun before the bell, and quickly runs away and tags out a Triple H laughs at him. Joe and Orton in now, they work some back and forth, Joe hits a shoulder block, but Orton fires back with an elbow. Orton teases the RKO, Joe looks for the clutch and we have a stand off. Balor tags in, as does Nakamura. We get NXT chants, they work some go behinds and nice counters, as both look to work the arm. They get playful, and Balor attacks and they work through a series of counters into a standoff. Triple H wants the tag and wants Nakamura. NXT dad and son about to face off here. They lock up, Triple H takes him to the corner and lays in rights. Nakamura fires back with kicks, but Triple H hits the face buster. Triple H is about to face Earth 2 Triple H as Roode tags in. They push and shove, Roode looks to do his glorious gimmick, so Triple H punches him in the face. Roode fires back, hits a clothesline and covers for 2. Chops follow by Roode, but Triple H hits the spinebuster. Triple H mocks Roode and then tells him to suck it. Roode fights off the pedigree and he hits the spinebuster and does the glorious pose. Theory trade counters and Angle tags in, hitting Germans and the Angle slam is countered and they end in a double down. Nakamura in and takes out Triple H and Angle. Roode hits the blockbuster on Braun, misses the second and Braun hits the powerslam for the elimination (I think Braun was supposed to catch him there). Joe and Braun argue, Angle tries to make peace and then Triple H and Angle argue. Orton runs them together as it breaks down. Snap slam by Orton on Joe, and now Braun is in. Cena and Orton smartly work together and attack, but Braun fights them off before being sent to the floor. They follow and Braun preps an announce table, Cena and Orton attack and Roode and Nakamura return to help put Braun through the table. They argue and Cena hits the AA, hits one on Balor and another on Joe and Joe’s done. Angle is upset now. Angle is in now, they lock up and Angle takes Cena down. The pace slows as Cena powers out and Angle hits a shoulder block. Cena hits a shoulder block, and talks some shit. Cena lays in rights, hits the shoulder block, the proto bomb and the 5-knuckle shuffle is cut off with an ankle lock, Cena escapes but Angle hits the Angle slam but Shane makes the save, double foot stomp by Balor, Angle slam and Cena is gone. Orton back in and he lays in the stomps to Angle. He misses the knee drop and Balor tags in. he runs wild, hits a standing double stomp and takes out Shane with a dropkick on the floor. Back in and Balor hits sling blade and heads up top and misses the double stomp, the RKO finishes Balor. Triple H in and attacks Orton. They kick the shit out of him until Shane gets a chair and fights them off. RKO on Kevin and Shane beats Sami up the ramp, Braun is back and tags in. The powerslam finishes Orton, and only Shane is left for Smackdown. Triple H, Braun, and Angle are left for Raw. Shane finally comes back in and Braun is waiting on him. Triple H tags himself in and Braun isn’t pleased. Angle now tags himself in. Triple H isn’t pleased. They argue and Shane rolls up Angle for 2. Shane lays in bad strikes, hits the back elbow and covers for 2. Shane goes for repeated covers, but Angle keeps kicking out. Angle hits the Angle slam and applies the ankle lock. Shane fights, and Angle pulls him back and Triple H enters and pedigrees Angle. He puts Shane on Angle and Shane pins him. Triple H and Braun stare down, and Triple H stands by Shane. Triple H helps Shane up and pedigrees him and wins the match. Kurt Angle, Braun Strowman, Finn Balor, Samoa Joe, and Triple H defeated Shane McMahon, Randy Orton, Shinsuke Nakamura, Bobby Roode, and John Cena @ 33:28 via pin [***] The main event was good, with fun interactions early on, but also a match that really faded as it went along. The crowd wasn’t really into the Triple H stuff at the end, and only got back into it when Braun killed him. Basically it started off good, started to get slow, and ended on a completely flat note. With the talent involved, it felt disappointing.

– Braun looks completely puzzled as Triple H raises his hand. Triple H celebrates, but Braun attacks him and says if Triple H fucks with him again, he’ll never play the game again. Triple H looks to pedigree Triple H, but Braun lays him out with the powerslam. BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN! Braun hits one more and leaves.

– Thanks for reading.

– End scene.

The 411
WWE Survivor Series 2017 was a solid show, with a very good tag match and two great matches. The main event was disappointed and fell flat, but nothing on the show was bad. If short on time, check out The Shield vs. New Day, The Usos vs. The Bar and Brock vs. AJ. The rest is largely fine, but nothing must see.
