Damian Priest Says He Was Cast In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Role Was Taken Away
Damian Priest has confirmed that he was cast in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever but the role was taken away — though not by Marvel. It was reported back in November of 2022 that Priest was asked to read for a “significant role” in the film, which was said to be either Namor or one of the other featured members of the underwater nation of Talokan. Priest confirmed the report in his recent appearance on Insight With Chris Van Vliet, saying he got the role but it was taken away.
When Van Vliet suggested that the “regime” in WWE was different than now, Priest nodded and said “Yeah.” You can see the other highlights below, per Fightful:
On what happened with the role: “It’s a long story, but basically it got taken away from me, but not from Marvel.”
On the potential for another Marvel role now that the regime is different: “It’d be cool, I’m ready. It’s funny because now I’m busier than ever. Look, come what may, I’m good with it. Maybe I do something like that, I go a different route, and I’m not sitting here with you, being a world champion. I won a world championship at WrestleMania. I don’t know if that happens. So look, and I said this before, I live a certain way now that I can’t look and regret, I can’t think about stuff that didn’t work out my way. I gotta think about what’s next and what else I can do positively for myself, so it didn’t work out. Not the end of the world. The movie was great, though.”
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever grossed $453.8 million domestically and $854 million worldwide upon its release in late 2022.
