Reigning AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio has come a long way since making his WWE in-ring debut against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam 2020. The younger Mysterio has shown immense improvement inside the ring and has honed his character immaculately since turning heel and joining The Judgment Day.
However, all of this might not have happened had his then-girlfriend and now wife not encouraged a reluctant Dominik Mysterio to go and train in Tampa for six months.
In a recent interview with WWE, Dominik acknowledged his wife’s role in encouraging him to pursue pro wrestling.
“I was around 260 pounds, just lost. My wife now, girlfriend at the time, she knew it, and I told her there was this opportunity, ‘I might go train in Tampa for six months, but I don’t really want to do it. I don’t want to leave.’ I just remember crying, bawling up. She looked at me and went, ‘You have to go. You gotta do this,'” he revealed.

Dominik Mysterio won his first singles title on the main roster earlier this year, defeating Bron Breakker, Penta, and Finn Balor in a Fatal Four-Way Match at WrestleMania 41 to clinch the Intercontinental Title. He was recently dethroned by John Cena during the latter’s last RAW appearance in Boston. Dominik is now set to battle Cena in a rematch in front of his home fans in San Diego, California, at this weekend’s Survivor Series: WarGames.
