John Cena Reveals How Many WWE PLEs He Has Performed At
By the time his time his up, John Cena will have officially wrestled at 178 WWE Premium Live Events. That’s including tonight’s Survivor Series, which is slated to be his last.
Doing the math, it’s clear that this number only includes events called Premium Live Events, and not any of the shows prior that were called Pay-Per-Views. Divide 178 by 12, the average amount of PLEs in a typical year, and you get 14.83333. Cena’s career has been much longer than 14 years, but WWE Network debuted in 2014, 11 years ago, at which point the name change began. The difference between 11 and 14 can be accounted for by the years that had more than one PLE per month.
Cena has been signed to WWE since 2001, so if we were to include PPVs as PLEs, the number would more than double.
Cena revealed the number via his X account:
I’ve been told tonight will be my 178th match at a PLE.
Tonight I’m honored for an opportunity to perform at a @WWE PLE One Last Time.A loud and excited crowd @PetcoPark broadcast around the globe on the @ESPN app and @Netflix will be an incredible backdrop for an epic event.… https://t.co/m1qricO3Do

Cena’s final PLE match will be a rematch against Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship. Their prior match, which Cena one, was in his home area of Boston; the rematch is in Dom’s hometown of San Diego.
Dave Metzer has previously stated it was always the plan for Cena’s final match on Saturday Night’s Main Event, likely against Gunther, to be for the title. However, that was before a rematch in Dom’s home arena was made official. We’ll find out tonight.
