John Skyler says he used Chris Jericho’s first book as a guidebook of sorts when he was getting into the business. Skyler is part of the TNA roster in Order 4 and reupped with the company in January. He recently spoke with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp about how he took Jericho’s A Lion’s Tale: Around the World in Spandex as a guide of what to do when he was breaking into the industry. You can see the highlights below:

ON Drawing Inspiration From Jericho:

“When I first was thinking about becoming a pro wrestler, again, I’m a very undersized guy. I’m only 5’6″, 5’7″ on a good day and when I was thinking about training to wrestle, I was only a 160, 170 and I read Chris Jericho’s book, his very first book and he was also a guy that was undersized. One of the things that he really talked about was his goal was always to go to WWE, but he wanted to gain all this knowledge and information by traveling the world first before he got there, so he could have all these tools in his tool belt to kind of plug away and that’s kind of how I tried to pattern my career.”

On the TNA Locker Room:

“Now I’m in TNA and all the experience that I’ve had all over the world traveling, it’s only made me better. Right now the TNA locker room, you’ve probably heard a million people say this and I’ll be a million and one. It’s the greatest locker room in wrestling. No bad apples, everybody gets along and we’re all working to a common goal.”
