Hey there, fellow sickos! How are you all doing on this fantastic Wednesday Night? We have a lot in store for Dynamite tonight, and a lot of drama and high suspense going into tonight. For so long as Jon Moxley has the AEW World Title and his group (I would like to rename them formally to Jon Moxley’s Paradigm) will be on top of AEW, where the tyranny will know no bounds.
So, what is going on with all of you tonight? I want to let you in on a little secret. I was talking to the Boss, and I had asked him a while back about injecting some life into the music section. So, I have been cutting some album reviews, starting with some recent ones, and I will be back tracking this year to add some more that I have been meaning and wanting to write.
So, all that to say, is keep an eye on the music section moving forward! Even if it isn’t your kind of music all support, much like with my AEW work, is definitely appreciated!
We are LIVE tonight from the Maverik Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. The announcers for tonight are Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Daddy Magic Matt Menard. THAT’S IT GUYS, WHAT’S GOING ON, WHAT ARE WE DOING???
*Cold open with Moxley and the Paradigm! We get the events stemming from WrestleDream and there we have it, Jon just called them the New Paradigm! But, you know, I am sticking with Jon & The Paradigm! On a side note, I wonder if the Bucks will care enough to try and stop the carnage unfolding around them. BTW, there is more to this video package, but a lot of what Jon is saying in the desert is buried by the loudly obnoxious music. I got Always for the Greater Good when the music died down, and it ends with the guys driving off in their truck.
*To the arena, and we have a LOT of members from the roster waiting for, who Excalibur assumes, Jon Moxley & The Paradigm! We run down the card for tonight!
*WE revisit the main event from last week between Switchblade Jay White and Christian Cage. To the ring with Tony Schiavone, who introduces Hangman Adam Page to the ring!
*Tony states the obvious that Hangman lost to Switchblade, then cost Jay his match last week. Hangman took his head off, and nearly took Juice Robinson’s life. He hit Auston Gunn so hard he doesn’t remember his brother’s name…
And that brings out Colten Gunn to ambush Page! Hangman quickly turns the tables though and sends Gunn into the timekeeper’s area. Back into the ring, and Page has his belt off. But before he can do anything, here come White and Robinson. They circle the ring, and White takes down Page. Page retreats before White can use his belt on him. White on the mic. He sees, he can run away, but he can’t hide. He knows how much it hurts Adam that he will always have his number. Nothing will change the fact that when the bell rings, he can never measure up to the Switchblade. But, they haven’t seen the end of each other, and if you aren’t down with that, he has two words for you…
GUNS UP!!!!
*Sammy Guevara promo. This is the same one that they aired on Collision, when it was announced that he would face Shelton Benjmain tonight. MVP says there is always a motive. Shelton says they aren’t here to make friends, they are here to hurt people and make money. MVP says when you are good at something, you never do it for free. Trust the Process. They have done it before, and they will do it again!
*To the ring with the Dapper Yapper for the opening match!
Sammy Guevara vs. Shelton Benjmain W/MVP
We circle around and Benjmain wastes no time with a knee and a throw! HARD Irish Whip to the corner and Sammy is in trouble early! Sammy tries to fight back, but Benjamin said no sir and put Sammy down with a Snap Suplex. Sammy up again, stalled vertical, but Sammy out the back door, he leaps over Benjamin, dropkick! Sammy looks for the cutter, no way. Sammy with a kick to the head of Shelton, but that makes him mad. Benjamin charges, Sammy low bridges Shelton to the floor. MOONSAULT BY SAMMY! Guevara back in the ring, looking for more, but MVP steps in the way. Sammy starts up again, flies out, but Shelton with the fair catch and OVERHEAD SUPLEX! that was so violent, we need a PIP BREAK!!
PIP THOUGHTS:
-COLLIDE ON COLLISION!
-Yes, I know, the virus for Shingles lives inside of me. I had it when I was 34. It sucked ass.
-Political bullshit. 13 days, people. 13 days. And then the squabbling over results.
-Inspire looks good for Sleep Apnea. Hopefully I get that when they test me.
-Tacos slam dunk, and now they ice skate!
-A Pro Wrestling anime? Interesting.
And we’re back, as Shelton sends Sammy crashing to the mat, simply having his way with him. Shelton from behind, hits the German. Sammy back up, ANOTHER German Suplex.
(You know, I honestly wouldn’t have guessed that Shelton was ever teammates with Brock Lesnar, like at all…)
Shelton has Sammy, but Guevara with a roll up for a two! That seems to fire up Sammy, as he hits a Superkick to Shelton, a jumping knee strike sends Benjamin to the floor. Sammy over the top rope, SKY PRESS TWIST TO THE FLOOR! Shelton in the ring, Springboard, but Shelton cuts him off. Another German attempts, but Sammy lands on his feet, CUTTER! Sammy tries to make the pin but it’s JUST A ONE COUNT! MVP bitches out Shelton in the corner, as Sammy charges Benjamin with a corner enziguri. Sammy from the top right into the SUPERKICK! I’m having HBK and Shelton vibes there lol. Shelton with a HUGE thrust kick! Shelton climbs the ropes and knees Sammy in the face. He grabs Sammy, hits the Exploder into the Powerslam and that’s game!
WINNER: Shelton Benjmain
TIME: 10:12
THOUGHTS: A really fun match given the time that it had. You knew Shelton wasn’t losing, especially with his match next week when he faces Swerve Strickland, but it was still an outstanding showcase for Shelton, with some hope spots for Sammy.
RATING: ***1/2
*Backstage, the Remarkable Renee Paquette catches up with Mariah May. She has luggage, apparently it belongs to Anna Jay, and she throws it down the hallway! Here is Jay to fight with her, but Christopher Daniels is here to break it up! BOO!
*Video package for Kyle Fletcher, and his history with Will Ospreay and the United Empire.
*We come back to the ring with Schiavone, who introduces Fletcher and Don Callis to the ring. Callis on the mic, and the boos come as usual. Kyle has something important to say. He takes the mic. We can boo him all we want (We know CS22 is, for sure), but he is here to talk to Ospreay. It’s been 11 days since he cost him his title, and since he’s been laid up in the hospital. Everyone has been wondering Why Kyle Why? It makes him happy, and these “idiots” are just as much to blame as Will. OSPREAY chants.
When Will arrived, he went from being the next big thing to the next Will Ospreay. He looked like him, wrestled like him, and “sounded” like him. He took them as an insult, because he is bigger, stronger, faster, and better than him in every single way. There was a time he would have liked the comparisons, when Will was on top of the world. Kyle screams at the fans and wants them to listen to him.
You know why he left New Japan and came to AEW? Let’s talk about what happened with will and Kazuchika Okada? He worked with him, mentored him, but Will stabbed him in the back. What about Kenny Omega? He took over from him as the biggest foreigner in Japan, and then used the screwdriver and dropped Kenny on his neck with a Tiger Driver 91.
Don helped Kyle realize something, that Will never wanted him to reach his potential and surpass Will, because he is selfish. Kyle will give him one chance to save face with these people (SHUT THE F*** UP chants), he will face Kyle in the ring next week. To prove that he gives a damn about these people. He will send Will back to the hospital for more than 11 days. He will stand over his carcass as the one and only star. But if he wants to take this company to new heights, he can be nothing like Will. Callis hands Kyle a razor. From this day forward, he is nothing like Will. Kyle is shaving his head and keeps shouting he is nothing like you. Alright then. I mean, I get it, he had something to say, but that was kind of wild just to stand there and only kind of sort of cut his hair to now look like Will.
COMMERCIAL BREAK!
*We return to see footage from Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling this past Saturday, where Konosuke Takeshita defended his International Title against Speedball Mike Bailey, Post match, Takeshita and Callis beat up Bailey until Ricochet showed up to save him. To the here and the now, with Renee and Ricochet, as Ricochet reminds everyone that Takeshita didn’t pin him in that match, and he wants someone, anyone, to show up and challenge him at Collision. Payback is a bitch, and MVP is here, and he agrees. He gives Ricochet his business card and compliments his suit. Aw, how nice!
*To the ring, with the Murderhawk Machines!
Lance Archer and Brian Cage vs. House of the Dragon Jobbers
Cage puts a Drill claw on the one guy, him and Archer do a double team chokeslam, and that’s it!
WINNERS: Brian Cage and Lance Archer
TIME: 55 seconds
THOUGHTS: Yep…
RATING: N/R
COMMERCIAL BREAK!
*We’re back, and the welcoming committee is still waiting. Mark Briscoe and Orange Cassidy peel off, and here is Chuck Taylor! He gives OC the pep talks about stepping up to Jon Moxley and the Paradigm.
*To the ring, with all of the good stuff around the ring!
Ladder Wars for the Ring of Honor World Title: Mark Briscoe (C) vs. Chris Jericho
Briscoe throws a ladder towards Jericho, and we waste no time here! Briscoe knocks Jericho off the apron through two tables! Briscoe could go up and get his title, but it seems like Mark has more in store for The Learning Tree. Briscoe beats Jericho around the ring, and Chris still has time to wave to the fans! What a champ! Briscoe sets up a ladder against the guardrail, but Jericho reverses a suplex with one of his own on Mark. Jericho starts to take over as he hits Briscoe with a piece of the broken table.
(BTW, Jericho wearing the yellow tights and jacket makes him look like Hulk Hogan. Take that for what you will.)
Briscoe and Jericho on the apron, Mark looking for the Jay Driller, but Chris blocks. Mark knocks Jericho to the floor and pounds away. Briscoe has Jericho on the ladder, he charges, flies out, and Jericho moves. Briscoe go splat on the ladder! Jericho is back in the ring, he sets up the ladder and starts up, but Briscoe is back to cut him off. Jericho cuts him off and throws him into the ladder. Jericho with the ladder, smacks it right into the face of Briscoe! PIP Break!
PIP THOUGHTS:
-24 hours of Beetlejuice? Eh, two hours for the new film was enough.
-I love sailing/fishing in the middle of storms! It’s the best!
-Venom the last dance will be sued by Micheal Jackson and ESPN for use of The Last Dance, you just watch.
-Man, I really hope Mandy and Georgie make it! Pulling for them crazy kids!
-No Domino’s. Keep your pizza and put it back in the oven.
-Buying tires online is a new kind of feeling. No more middleman, and no more getting rolled for stuff you don’t need.
And we return to see Jericho climb the ladder. Briscoe is back in the ring and cuts off Jericho. He has Jericho on his shoulders, DEATH VALLEY DRIVER TROUGH THE LADDER IN THE CORNER! Briscoe puts another ladder on Jericho and goes up top, but Jericho is up and hits Briscoe with said ladder. Jericho sets it in the corner and goes up the ladder. Briscoe knocks Jericho over on the ladder and to the mat! Briscoe from the top with a senton, Jericho moves the ladder, but still takes the damage! Briscoe goes outside, but Jericho is back up and climbs the ladder. Briscoe back in, they meet at the top, they trade. BOO! YAY! Jericho knocks Briscoe from the top, he reaches for the title, but Briscoe sends the ladder and Jericho crashing off the ropes. THIS IS AWESOME chants from the crowd. Both men on their knees trading shots, to their feet, still slugging away. Briscoe catches Jericho in the middle of the ladder and then pushes him and the ladder over! Briscoe sets up a table and a bigger ladder. Briscoe places Jericho on the table, he hits him a few times. Briscoe climbs the ladder to the top, but here comes Bryan Keith! He climbs the ladder to put himself between Jericho and the fall, but Rocky Romero is here with a kendo stick! Briscoe back up to the very top of the ladder. FROGGY BOW FROM THE VERY TOP, JERICHO THROUGH THE TABLE AND SMASHES HIS HEAD ON THE LADDER! JAY DRILLER TO JERICHO! Briscoe sets up the ladder, but here is Big Bill! HE CHOKESLAMS BRISCOE FROM THE LADDER AND THTOUGH THE TABLE ON THE FLOOR!!! Bill tries to motivate Jericho, but eventually puts Jericho on his shoulders and carries him to the top of the ladder! Jericho lazily reaches for the title and retrieves it!
WINNER: Chris Jericho (New Champion!)
TIME: 15:44
THOUGHTS: Your mileage will very on this kind of match, and obviously, Jericho does not need the ROH Title again, but damn if this match wasn’t a lot of fun with a lot of chaotic stuff, and a really fun ending with Big Bill carrying his Learning Tree up the ladder to grab the title.
RATING: ***3/4
*Post match here comes The Stone Pitbull, Tomohiro Ishii! He stands on the entrance ramp with Romero.
*Video package for Kris Statlander and Kamille. These two fine, fine ladies will meet next week on Fright Night Dynamite in Cleveland!
*Back to the arena, and Adam Cole (BAYBAY!) is on his way to the ring! Cole on the mic. Who’s Ready for Story time but he is cut off by Roderick Strong!
ADDDDDDDAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMM!!!!
We know who MJF is, he is a user, a manipulator, and he used Adam to get the fans to like him. MJF didn’t check on Cole when he was injured, but Roddy did. Mike Bennett says their friendship is much bigger than everything, and they will finish this together. Matt Taven says this is more than just Max, and his favorite moments are when they are altogether. Roddy says he is proud of Cole, proud that he worked his ass off to come back from the ankle injury. He is proud that Cole came back to take out MJF together. Strong says he wants Max first. Cole says Roddy is damn right, we are going to finish what they started, and maybe they should do it tonight? Max, come on down, and get this Undisputed Ass Whooping.
MJF is on the video wall, getting a massage. Greed is a bottomless put to satisfy revenge without actually getting it. MJF with the carrot. whoever wins three matches first will get a match with MJF at Full Gear. Hopefully they get the happy ending they want, cause MJF knows he will. Cole, Bennett, Taven, and Strong embrace in the ring, as we cut back to Kyle O’Reilly starring at the screen. Interesting. House of Black is in action after the commercial break!
*We return with a video package, showing Penelope Ford and Jamie Hayter. I forgot that two years ago, in Ford’s last match, her partner was Hayter. Time does fly.
*To the back with Renee and Jamie. Jamie listened, and she thinks it is all BS. When you’ve wrestled for twenty Quid in front of twenty men, then tell Jamie she hasn’t earned it. Penelope isn’t here, but Jamie is, so she challenges her to show up in two weeks.
*Here comes the House of Black to murder some jobbers, and on that note, I’m getting a lot of wind, rain, thunder, and lightning. It can’t be a coincidence.
The House of Black vs. The J.O.B. Squad
The fans BARK for Brody to start, but Malakai in first, and he kicks a jobber, as the other two look on scared. Another jobber attacks, and Black sweeps out the leg. Matthews tags in, the stomp on the arm. Jobber B gouges the eyes of Matthews, Jobber C comes in. He gets the kitchen sink from Matthews and a senton from King. King charges Jobber C in the corner. Jobber C is dead in the corner VIA death. Jobber B gets Dante’s Inferno from King, the Curbstomp from Matthews, and the death has ended.
WINNERS: The House of Black (VIA Murder)
TIME: 2:00
THOUGHTS: The HoB killed Jobbers. It could have been half the time, but it’s always fun to see the House, especially the entrance.
RATING: *****
Buddy has the mic. Next week, Buddy Matthews and Adam Cole? Noice! The music plays again, and NGL, that sounds like a fun match!
*We run down the card for next week, then go to the back with Renee, Cole, Bennett, Taven, and Strong. Cole goes to talk to Matthews, does Cole have a problem with him? Buddy proved one point, Cole asks what that is, and Matthews says find out.
*Back to the ring, and here comes The Brickhouse, Kamille! Oh, and Mercedes is here.
Kamille vs. Queen Aminata
Kamille overpowers Aminata to start, as expected. Kamille drops Aminata, goes for the pin, just a one count! OH, snap! Aminata back up, she fights away, but Kamille cuts her off. Aminata off the ropes, hits the tiaras! Aminata into the pin and she kicks out at one! Aminata with a rollup attempt, that’s a two. Kamille catches Aminata, backbreaker! PIP Break, I say no sir, we need the camera on Kamille and the Queen at all times!
(Out of moral turpitude, I will not be covering PIP this time. Sorry!)
And we’re back, as Kamille has Aminata on the mat. Aminata with a jawbreaker, she ducks the leg lariat, and Aminata with a chop block! Rolling elbow strike! Snap neck breaker! The Queen is feeling it, as Mercedes is upset. Aminata hits Kamille in the back of the head as she was in the ropes! The pin, that’s a two count! Aminata applies a body lock, Kamille sits back for a pin attempt. Aminata switches to a Dragon Sleeper, but Kamille is back up. Aminata has Kamille up, she fights out. Powerbomb attempt, but Aminta counters with a roll up for a two. Swing and a miss by Aminta, Kamille has her up in the backbreaker torture rack! She slams Aminata down, but it’s only a two count! Kamille slams Aminata down again, and this time, she gets the three count!
WINNER: Kamille
TIME: 8:16
THOUGHTS: Fun match between these ladies. Aminata keeps getting better and better as the weeks go on.
RATING: ***1/4
Post match, Statlander comes to the ring in a rather small, nice looking bat design of a top. She goes face to face with Kamille. Mercedes backs off Kamille while talking trash. Mercedes hits Kris from behind, but she no sells and attacks both Mone and Kamille. Mone grabs the leg of Kris, and Kamille takes advantage with a version of the Test Drive. Mone and Kamille stand over Statlander.
We go back outside, as the Welcoming Committe confronts someone pulling up, but it’s Christian Cage and his Patriarchy! Kip Sabian sees them and runs away, as the Patriarchy gives chase. They enter the ring, but we see HOOK on the screen. Renee catches up and asks him who attacked his father. HOOK says the scumbags are in the ring. He comes out and goes after Nick Wayne, but Sabian low blows HOOK from behind. Christian chastises Sabian, as Nick goes for Wayne’s World, but HOOK catches him with Red Rum. Cage hits Hook from behind with his case, and Nick hits Wayne’s World. HOOK gets back up, and Cage hits him again. He tells HOOK it isn’t what it seems, as Cage, Wayne, Mama Wayne, and Kip leave the ring. The main event is after this commercial break!
*We are back for the main event, which I am TOTALLY sure will NOT involve any shenanigans, or Excalibur does NOT wear a mask!
Private Party & Daniel Garcia vs. AEW Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks & TNT Champion Jack Perry
And everyone fights everyone to start! Garcia and Perry in the ring as the bell rings. Perry still has his jacket on as he tags out to Matthew Jackson, so Garcia tags out to Isiah Cassidy. Both Bucks and Private Party end up in the ring, two double clotheslines, and both teams no sell and get back up. Garcia sets himself up, a splash and Poetry in Motion from Private Party! We cut to the Welcoming Committe, still waiting for Jon and his gang. Back in the ring, Private Party misfire, and the Bucks take advantage. Perry has Garcia on the apron and hits a draping DDT, while the Bucks hit a 450 splash on Private Party. PIP!
PIP Thoughts:
-I totally believe Danny Devito gets free subs in his lease at Jersey Mike’s, lucky bastard.
-Pringles are fun, until you get to the bottom of the can.
-NO, DOMINO’S, FUCK OFF!
-Dad didn’t raise no Insurance Man, Jamie!
-KFC is midevel? Cool.
-Crest 3D white is 100% proof? cool!
-Danny again lol
*And we’re back, and hey, Stokley Hathaway is at ringside! Friendly Fire on the outside as Nicholas kicks Matthew by accident. Perry tries to cut off the tag, as Quen goes for the dive, but Matthew drags Garcia off the apron to prevent the tag. Perry powerbombs Garcia into the timekeeper’s area! The Bucks are back in the ring, Risky Business on Cassidy, but he kicks out at two! Isiah tries to fight off the Bucks, leaps over Matthew, takes both Bucks down, and he tags in Quen. Quen with a spin kick! An enziguir! Even a powerslam to Perry! But the Bucks said, no, and cut that off. Poisonrana by Perry, as Nicholas gets a two on the pin attempt. Triple offense in the Elite corner, Nicholas with the double stomp into Matthew’s Powerbomb, that’s broken up at two! Garcia is alive, and he drops Perry into the crowd. Cassidy is again trying to fight off both Bucks, they try the TK Driver, Quen cuts off Matthews, Silly String Attempt, Matthew goes for a small package but it’s reversed and that’s a three!
WINNER: Private Party & Daniel Garcia
TIME: 11:09
THOUGHTS: A good match between, obviously, talented wrestlers, and it sets up the next logical steps of Garcia going after Perry and the TNT Title, and Private Party getting another tag title shot. Surprised nothing weird happened during the match, but that came afterward.
RATING: ***1/2
Post match, Private Party say they have the Buck’s number. They want another tag title shot, but the Bucks walk away. Cassidy says that if they don’t win, then the team splits up. That gets the attention of the Bucks, and they agree to it! We go back outside, as the truck appears, but its only Marina Shafir! The rest of the group attack Garcia and Private Party from behind! Moxley brings Taylor down the ramp and into the ring! Moxley puts a chair around the neck of Sexy Chucky T, but here comes Orange Cassidy! But he’s too late, as Claudio stomps on the chair around the neck of Taylor!!! The Bucks are still on the ramp watching and ask if they should go. We cut back to the ring, as Orange Cassidy is doing his best to hold in his orange rage.
And with that, we are done for tonight!
