SICKOS! It’s Wednesday, you know what that means! AEW Dynamite is LIVE tonight from the EagleBank Arena in Fairfax, Virginia, and tonight’s card is jam packed with title matches and action across the board!
Most champions claim that, when they win a title belt, that they will be a fighting champion usually ends up being nothing but empty platitudes. But for Darby Allin, that is not the case; two weeks ago, Darby defeated MJF to become the AEW Men’s World Champion, and last week, he defeated Tommaso Ciampa in his first retention of the title. Tonight, he will face one of his biggest advisories-turned-kind-of-friend Brody King. Will King be able to take the title and put the HEAVY in Heavyweight Champion, or will Allin manage to retain the title and pull it out in the bottom of the ninth?
Seeing former two-time World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman compete for a title NOT named the AEW World Title seems strange, but that will be the case as tonight, he will face The Jet Kevin Knight for the TNT Title that he won in the Casino Gauntlet Match back at Dynasty. Despite MJF only being one year older than Knight, this feels like the present of AEW going up against the present and future of AEW. Will MJF add another title to his mantle, or will Knight find a way to notch his first title defense?
(It should be noted that there is a clearly telegraphed way to go here, seeing as we are in Virginia, and there was a man who was a part of the Trio’s Champions with Knight, and a man who was robbed of competing for the World Title thanks to his loss to MJF back at Revolution.)
One of the first matches announced for Double or Nothing next month in Queens was an International Title Match, as Kazuchika Okada will put his title on the line against Konosuke Takeshita, but first, Okada will put his title on the line tonight against Ace Austin. Obviously, Austin winning the title tonight would throw a huge wrench into that planned title match at DoN, but I mean, we ARE talking about The Rainmaker here, and the smart money has been put on the simmering tensions between Okada and Takeshita that go back roughly a year. Can Austin pull off a huge upset tonight and take the International Title, or will Okada play the hits and flip us off on the way to another retention?
Divine Dominion have been unbeatable since Lena Kross and Megan Bayne came together as a team back in February, when Kross was introduced in her home country of Australia as a partner for both Bayne and Penelope Ford. Tonight, though, the Champions will defend their Women’s Tag Team Titles against the new best friends of Kris Statlander and Hikaru Shida. Will Divine Dominion retain their titles, or will Statlander and Shida take their friendship to the next level by winning the titles?
Christian Cage and Adam Copeland will face FTR for the Men’s Tag Team Titles at DoN after losing to them at Dynasty, and in order to get a rematch, they had to agree to disband as a tag team if they lose to Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood again. Tonight, though, is about payback for the C&C Wrestling Experience, as they face Rocky Romero and Trent Beretta, here-in known as RPG Vice. Can RPG Vice make good on their attack of Cage and Copeland, or will C&C extract revenge for Rocky and Trent sticking their noses in their business?
RUSH, coming off of dealing a beating to Adam Priest this past Saturday on Collision, will be in action tonight, as will Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor, as the Brawling Birds will look to get back on track after both ladies collectively fell at the hands of the Women’s World Champion Thekla and the Triangle of Madness. All of this and, of course, so much more in store for us tonight!
So, how is everyone doing on this Hump Day? Not going to lie, I am extremely nervous now that the Flyers have allowed the Penguins to get off the mat and make the series 3-2 heading into tonight’s game six back home. Also, I am not going to lie that Dynamite tonight taking the central focus of my attention will definitely help, but I’ll still be watching it and doing my usual work, much like I did last week. The Phillies fired Rob Thomson and then proceeded to smash the Giants in the debut of former Yankee player and former Marlins Manager Don Mattingly. Time will tell if this just that fabled lift that a team gets from firing their coach, or if the team has actually turned this around and done a 180.
But, enough about me and enough about you, let’s get ready to make the Dynamite go BOOM!

Tonight, Dynamite is LIVE from Fairfax, Virigina, the state for lovers! Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Taz are on the call tonight!
Excalibur runs down the card for tonight and Holy Crap, we’re getting the TNT Title match first!
Video package, featuring MJF losing his World Title to Darby Allin, whining he wanted a rematch, only for Kevin Knight to come out and talk Max into a shot at his TNT Title instead. I’m interested in whether they give Knight the big win here, or if they go with MJF winning the title to leverage it against Allin a rematch.
AEW TNT Title Match: Kevin Knight (C) vs. MJF
Taz says MJF looks nude without the World Title. Funnily enough, I think Taz looks nude without the sunglasses on. The Dapper Yapper will do the in-ring introductions for this one. MJF whispers something to Justin, and Roberts says that “MJF does not hail from a white trash state like Virginia”. Never change, Edge Lord!
The bell rings, as MJF smiles and grunts at Knight like a caveman. MJF sends Knight to the floor and proceeds to throw him into the barricade and into the ring steps. He celebrates his handiwork before going back after Knight. He lifts Kevin up and he powerbombs Knight onto the barricade! MJF returns Knight to the ring and jaws with some of them losers at ring side.
MJF gets a two on the pin and goes into a grounded headlock. Knight to his feet, off the ropes, he scores with a springboard crossbody! MJF shuts that down with a clothesline. Reversals ensue, but MJF hits a stalling CUTTER to Knight for a two. MJF takes time to listen to his adoring fans, and it allows Knight to reverse his Heat Seeker. Knight scores with a big DDT, and we reset.
Both men to their feet, and Knight wins the strike battle. He sends Max to the ropes and kicks away at him, forcing Bryce to pull him away. MJF tries to take advantage, but Knight hits the dropkick and he KIPS UP! Knight with the running version of the UFO Splash for a two. Knight heads to the top, but MJF is too far away, and he does the Orange Cassidy roll out of the way and to the floor. He’s not safe, though, as Knight hits a springboard crossbody to the floor!
Knight returns MJF to the ring, but again Max rolls out of the ring. Knight loads up a Tope Suicida instead! Knight returns MJF to the ring for a third time, but AGAIN MJF rolls out of the ring! And yet AGAIN, he pays for this as Knight wipes him out on the floor! Wait, there was ONE side of the ring that MJF hasn’t rolled out yet, and he rolls out of the side heading up the ramp! For a fourth time, Knight takes off and hits a springboard clothesline. NGL, that was a great sequence.
Knight returns MJF to the ring again, this time he rolls away, but he remains in the ring. He suckers Knight in for a Heat Seeker, but Knight avoids it. Pins are exchanged in see-saw motions. MJF surprises Knight with a CUTTER for a two. Knight runs into a back elbow from MJF, and Max to the top. Knight heads up and goes to the very top. MJF throws him off the top, but Knight kind of lands on his feet, and hits a Snap Rana to MJF!
Knight is favoring his knee as he did come up lame on that flip from the top rope, but it doesn’t stop him from going to the top again. He misses the UFO Splash, though, as MJF rolls out of the way. MJF looking Figure-Four, but Knight kicks him away. Knight goes charging, but his vertical base gives out. MJF with a thrust kick and a Destroyer for a two! Ninety second break incoming!
We return to see Knight in the single leg crab. Knight reaches for the ropes, but MJF pulls him back to the middle of the ring. He punches away on the knee of Knight, but Kevin is able to roll over and kick MJF away. Knight to his feet, but again he falls to the mat. MJF heads to the second rope, but he takes WAY too long and eats a Thrust Kick! Knight struggles to the top rope, but he gets up there and hits the UFO Splash! Knight can’t pin MJF straight away, but he drapes an arm over MJF, but Max kicks out at two!
THIS IS AWESOME chants, as Knight tries to get feeling back into his bad knee. Knight approaches MJF, but Max with a Dragon Screw in the ropes. Max seethes and works over the knee of Knight in the ring. MJF picks up Knight, Alabama Slam, just like his mentor would hit! Cocky ass cover from MJF, Knight kicks out, so MJF pins him again, and Knight kicks out. MJF for a third time, but again Knight kicks out.
MJF is mad, so he stalks out to the floor and grabs Knight’s TNT title from the Timekeeper’s table. Bryce confronts MJF, he shoves him, but MJF takes the title belt. It was a ruse, as MJF puts on his Dynamite Diamond Ring! Knight with a low blow to MJF as Bryce is toying around with the title! The small package, and Knight retains!
WINNER: Kevin Knight (And Still)
TIME: 15:15
THOUGHTS: A great match. The spot where Max rolled out of each side of the ring only for Knight to hit him with a high-risk move was great. The ending, too, also protects MJF but gives Knight a big win.
RATING: ****1/4
Max is a shitty loser post-match, and he hits a chop block to Knight. Sting Darby Allin drops down from the rafters! Allin hits the ring and hits the Scorpion Death Drop on MJF! from the rafters! MJF has the mic, because of course he does! He hates these fans. Two peas in a pod, you guys are! You are both cheaters! MJF wasn’t even trying in this match, because he wants his Triple B back! Give me my title back!
Darby: No.
Darby says he isn’t giving Max a shot until he puts something on the line. In fact, if he survives Brody King tonight, he knows who deserves a shot next. He looks at Kevin and confirms as such.
Here comes Brody! He stares down Max before heading to the ring. King has a mic. He’s got some bad news for you, Darby, because you’re not going to survive tonight. And Jet, I’ve got worse news for you. You won’t be facing Darby Allin, you will be facing new World Heavyweight Champion Brody King! ARF!
Excalibur runs down the card again. The Brawling Birds are going to beat the piss out of some unfortunate girls, next!
COMMERCIALS!
The Remarkable Renee Paquette (who sounds like she has laryngitis) has Christian Cage and Adam Copeland. She asks Cage about his wrist, and he says it is fine. She wants to know if they will accept FTR’s challenge, and Cage says he accepts. Adam, sporting a kick-ass Alice in Chains shirt, says that was quick. Cage says he never said he quit and leaves.
Two Birds and, yeah, just two birds!
The Brawling Birds vs. Emily Jaye and Jordan Blade
Hey, I remember Blade from Effy’s Big Gay Brunch! The bell rings, and Hayter beats the PISS out of Blade. Jamie and Alex take turns tagging in and out and beating up Blade. They hit a double team clothesline to Jaye, and Alex takes Emily to the floor and wipes her out. Double headbutt to Blade, followed by Two Birds, One Stone for the win!
WINNER: The Brawling Birds
TIME: 1:15
THOUGHTS: Ain’t nothing but a squash thang, babe!
RATING: N/R
We see Swerve Strickland, who announced the Jacksonville Jaguars 4th round pick this past Saturday at the NFL Draft in Pittsburgh. He got to meet Pittsburgh icons Curtis Martin and Michael Keaton AKA I’M BATMAN!
Thekla and Skye Blue are in the back. Thekla says there too many dumb bitches in AEW. Blue says that what happened to Persephone was Alex’s fault, and her getting misted in the eyes was the best thing to happen to her. Thekla says she isn’t done with Jamie and Alex just yet.
COIN DROP
AEW International Title Match: Kazuchika Okada (C) W/Don Callis vs. Ace Austin
I like Austin, but I’m not sure how he got a title shot here. Don Callis joins commentary, and he wastes no time gassing up Taz, and vice versa.
FUCK DON CALLIS chants before the bell, so the fans are in rate form lol. Early lock-up, and Okada uses his range and reach to push Austin to the corner. Okada fakes the slap, but it’s a fake, until he faked out his own fake, and he kicks Austin to the mat. Okada sends off Austin, but Ace trips Okada to the match and tries a roll-up for a two. Austin with a dropkick to Okada and another two.
Austin with shots to the back of Okada. Austin has the Champion up on his shoulders and he hits a DVD! Okada moves as Austin hits the corner, but Ace escapes and hits an enziguri! Okada to the floor, he avoids a dive from Austin. Ace ends up doing a handstand on the apron, which Okada applauds lol. Austin with a kick to Okada through the corner of the ring, but Okada catches Ace and hits a DDT on the floor! That’ll take us to the break.
Okada hits the over the knee neck breaker to Austin as we return. Okada with the scoop slam, to the top he goes, and he hits the elbow drop. It’s time for the pose! Okada looking for the Rainmaker, but Austin ends up sending Okada to the floor. Okada catches Austin’s kick, but Austin does another handstand and he hits a PK to Okada! Austin back inside the ring, Frosberry Flop with no hands and onto Okada on the floor!
Austin returns Okada to the ring, but Okada rolls out of the way of his next attack. Reversals ensue, until Austin drops Okada to the mat and hits a back splash. Austin to the top rope, Leg Drop from the top! The cover, but Okada kicks out at two. Okada kicks Austin away and rolls up Austin for a two. Austin with a big kick, but the Fold is cut off by Okada. Okada scores with a roll-up and a knee strike.
Okada sends Austin to the apron, Austin comes back in, and Okada cuts him off with a dropkick! Another dropkick from Okada! Tombstone Piledriver from the Champion leads to the Rainmaker and the retention!
WINNER: Kazuchika Okada (Still champion)
TIME: 11:15
THOUGHTS: Austin got a lot of shine in this match, but obviously, Okada wasn’t losing. There is WAY too much money in that Okada-Takeshita match.
RATING: ***3/4
Post-match, Juice keeps Ace from being attacked by Mark Davis. Konosuke Takeshita casually strolls out and he states down Okada!
Speaking of the Don Callis Family, RPG Vice will face the C&C Wrestling Experience, next!
But first, we get a promo in the Wild West. We see someone sending drunkards out of the saloon and out onto the road. We see this man lean down and pick up a Most Wanted flyer for Bandido, and we see it’s Swerve Strickland! Prince Nana hands him something, and Strickland sets the flier on fire! He menacingly stares into the camera.
COMMERCIALS!
We return, as Taz explains his sunglasses were stolen on the flight here. Ah, that explains it lol. Excalibur runs down the events stemming from Jon Moxley and the Death Riders saving Will Ospreay last week on Dynamite, and the offer that Moxley made Ospreay on Collision. To the here and now, as we see Marina Shafir and Wheeler Yuta wrestling on the ground. Daniel Garcia says that you don’t get to be the best until you put in the work here first. Ospreay is here. Moxley asks him if he has been cleared, and Will says no, he went to Japan for a second opinion. Moxley tells Ospreay to drop whatever feelings he has about him, any pre-conceived notions. He told Will that he would make him the most dangerous weapon in AEW if he listens to him and he won’t steer him wrong. Ospreay accepts this and asks where the ring is. Moxley says they do things from the ground up here, and he shoves the camera away.
7-Star FTR and Big Stoke are here. It looks like they will be joining commentary for the upcoming match, with only Stoke having a headset.
RPG Vice vs. Christian Cage and Adam Copeland
Taz complains about an unpaid gas receipt from 2000 as to why he hates Adam Copeland lol. The bell rings, and Romero and Cage will start. Romero does get the better of Cage, but he does his European Football slide, and Cage grabs him by the nose and hits the reverse DDT. Copeland gets the tag, and Adam and Christian double up on Rocky. Copeland for the pin.
Beretta gets the tag, and he drops Copeland over his knees with a neck breaker variant for a two. Trent with chops in the corner to Copeland, but Adam responds with a lariat. Beretta backs up Copeland, Cage with the blind tag, Copeland hits a running crossbody to Beretta, and Cage with his VINTAGE upwards thrust chop!
Cage takes care of Romero, but Cash Wheeler looks to get involved. The Conglomeration is here! Orange Cassidy smacks a bucket of popcorn over the head of Stoke! A brawl breaks out between the boys who conglomerate and FTR, and they end up fighting to the back. Romero hits a knee strike from the apron to Cage, while Copeland looks on. What a partner, I tell you. That’ll take us to the break.
RPG Vice have isolated Cage in the ring with double team offense as we return. The pin, but Copeland has reappeared to save Cage. Romero stalks Cage to the corner, as he kicks and chops Cage. Romero puts Cage on the top rope, but Cage throws him off. Romero tries again, and he hits an arm drag, sending Cage to the mat. Romero with the cross-arm breaker, and Cage gets to the ropes.
Beretta with the tag, but Cage almost makes it over for a tag. Rocky is tagged back in, Cage gouges the eyes of Romero, and he hits a DDT. Copeland FINALLY gets the tag, as he greets Beretta with a back body drop and a flapjack. Trent tries a Tornado DDT, but Copeland chucks him away. Impaler DDT from Cope, Romero goes for the save, but he back splashes Trent instead.
They regroup and hit a double knee strike to Copeland. Cage is back, and he saves Copeland, and he uses his brace to hit Romero in the head. Copeland looking SPEAR, but Beretta rolls up Copeland with his feet on the ropes, but Rick Knox saw that. Color me surprised. Copeland with the SPEAR to Beretta, and that’s a victory!
WINNER: Christian Cage and Adam Copeland
TIME: 12:40
THOUGHTS: WAY too much offense for Trent and Rocky here. I get wanting to isolate Cage because of his wrist/forearm, but that didn’t need to go over 12 minutes much less five. Not bad, but not great.
RATING: ***
Post-match, Cage heads to the floor and he grabs a chair. He sets the chair up and breaks one of the pieces off of it. Oh, hey, I remember this, Copeland used to put it in the mouth of people! And he does that to Trent! Cage has a mic, and he wants Trent to say it. Beretta mutters he quits, but it’s hard to hear with a piece of chair in his mouth. Copeland lets go, and Cage calls Trent a bitch. Copeland heads to the floor and he stares at the tag team titles. Cage grabs one and tries to make off with it, as Knox takes it away from him. Copelan, with the popcorn bucket on his head, grabs the other title, and Knox takes THAT one from him.
The Women’s Tag Team Titles are on the line, next!
COMMERCIALS!
Earlier tonight, Renee had Chris Jericho. She wants to know how he feels about being beaten by the Lionsault two weeks in a row. He says it is beyond being flattering, but here comes The Demand. They attack Jericho from behind, and Ricochet says the nicknames and the games are over. Do you think this is funny? Jericho says eat shit, and the assault continues. They rip Jericho’s shirt off, and Ricky hits the Ricosault off a flat pallet. He tells Jericho he isn’t even worth it (sure, I mean you just beat his ass), does the finger pose, and goes AH-HAAAA!
HOLY STATLANDER!
AEW Women’s World Tag Team Titles: Divine Dominion (C) vs. Kris Statlander and Hikaru Shida
The bell rings, and Shida and Kross will start this off. Shida strikes both Kross and Bayne, but it has little effect, as Kross hits a Beal to send Shida across the ring. Shida tries to fire up, but Kross with a shoulder tackle sends Hikaru to the mat.
Bayne with the tag, and a double hammer throw leads to a double shoulder tackle. Bayne lifts up Shida, and we get a dodgy looking throw from Bayne. Not sure what happened there. Shida isolates Bayne with a running knee strike and she goes for the corner punches. but Bayne carries her to the middle of the ring. Shida with a running knee strike, but Bayne catches her and sends her from the ring.
Shida is back, and she grabs an eyelash (Credit to MarkyD123). Shida wants her kendo stick, but Kris stops her. Shida kicks Kris in the gut and suplexes her into Bayne, who is on the middle rope. Statlander tries a Rana to both Kross and Bayne, but they fight her off. Statlander sends Bayne to the floor, back elbow and an Enziguri to Kross. Kris hooks the feet of Kross on the pin, but Lena kicks out at two. She kicks Kris into Bayne, who hits her in the head, and Bayne with an electric chair drop to Statlander across the top rope. That’ll take us to the break.
Bayne with a cheap shot to Shida as we return. The Champions try to take care of Statlander, but Kris with a double Rana! Kris STILL can’t get the tag, as Bayne lands strikes to Kris, but Statlander is back with a big lariat. Shida and Kross get the tags, and Shida peppers Kross with strikes. Lena with one strike stops that, but she misses a lariat, and Shida out of the corner with a knee strike.
Bayne catches and holds Shida, allowing Kross to kick her. Shida moves, though, and Kross hits Bayne. Shida kicks Kross into Bayne, sending both ladies to the floor. Shida to the apron, and she hits takes both ladies down with a double lariat. HOLY SHIDA chants, as Shida returns Kross to the ring. Reversals, hook kick from Kross, but it allows Kris to tag in.
Statlander ends up in the wrong corner, as the Champions isolate her and lay in running bit boots. Bayne with a release German and a stack cover, but Kris kicks out at two. Blind tag by Kross, Statlander ducks a Bayne clothesline and hits a kick to the head of both champions. Rather salacious situation where Kross and Bayne are on top of one another in the corner, and Statlander hits a 450 splash to both of them! The cover, but Kross kicks out at two.
Shida with the blind tag, and she hits the Falcon Arrow on Kross! She did the deal, but Lena still kicks out at two. Kitana incoming, but Bayne kicks her in the face. Statlander grabs Kross, but Bayne hits an assisted kick to Lena’s German to Statlander. The double team chokeslam to Shida means a title retention!
WINNER: Divine Dominion (still champions)
TIME: 12:30
THOUGHTS: Kind of a rough outing here. It picked up after the break, but it was kind of disjointed before the break. Still a decent match.
RATING: ***
Renee is in the back with Andrade El Idolo and Don Callis. MJF is here to interrupt, and he blames Andrade for Darby being on this rampage that he is on. Andrade keeps saying HOW DO YOU KNOW, which only agitates MJF. Don says MJF doesn’t have a title, so you don’t need to fight him, and MJF needs to get his title back.
Someone is going to get the HERNS!
RUSH vs. Steven Fertue
Steven wants to shake hands at the bell, and he gets a forearm to the face for being an idiot. RUSH takes the dummy to the floor and proceeds to introduce him to the barricade. RUSH returns him to the ring, and he gets the crowd behind him. It’s time for the HERNS! Goodbye, Jobber Pie!
WINNER: RUSH
TIME: 1:35
THOUGHTS: Smash, Smash, Smash!
RATING: N/R
RUSH has the mic post-match. He starts out in Spanish, but he says the thing we are all waiting for. IF YOU MESS WITH RUSH, YOU GET THE HERNS!
Renee (Still sounding hoarse) has the new four-man version of the Opps. Samoa Joe says how do we regain our dominance? We have Shibata, who will kick the pads off of you. Bowens, who is a multi-time World Champion (really?) and he is underrated. HOOK is the cold-blooded handsome devil, and he is a killer. But this is about you, Will Ospreay. The Opps had your back in the past, and the Death Riders have you in the same exact spot you were before. Joe awaits Will’s decision.
COMMERCIALS!
FTR and Big Stoke are here post-break. Stoke says that next week, Orange Cassidy will go one-on-one with Dax Harwood, and if Harwood wins, then they get a shot at the Trio’s Titles. And they have just the man to help them out, a man who just took the World Champion to the limit last week. Enter Tommaso Ciampa, who says that he put Mark Briscoe on the shelf indefinitely and he would be willing to do that to anyone else. He says the Stokely line (Top Guys, out) and steals something from Stoke and says delicious. Stoke looks he just shit himself lol.
It’s time for the main event!

He sits Allin in the chair and chops him. He gets rolling, but Allin trips up King, and he smacks his face off of the chair. Allin sets up the chair in front of commentary, and he lands elbows shots to the back. Allin to the very top, DOUBLE STOMP TO KING IN THE CHAIR! That’ll take us to our final break!
Allin is sat on the top rope, and he is chopped from the top and to the floor as we return. Darby is officially ded once again. King to the floor, and he hits a chokeslam to Allin onto the apron. King does some announce table demolition and sets the cover up against the barricade. We see Kevin Knight watching from the crowd. Allin returns to the ring, and he bites the hand of King as he is on the apron. King looking for a suplex to the floor, but Allin knees his way free. Allin slides out underneath King, and he hits a powerbomb to Brody to the exposed floor! Not content with that, Allin heads to the top, and he hits a Coffin Drop to King on the floor!
Allin returns to the ring, as King needs to beat the count. As is tradition, King makes it in at nine, but Allin is waiting with another Coffin Drop! He loads up ANOTHER Coffin Drop, and that finally keeps the big man down!
WINNER: Darby Allin (Still Champion)
TIME: 16:30
THOUGHTS: I mean, I’m not sure what you would have expected here, except for two guys who were willing to go out there and kill each other for the World Title. The history between King and Allin has always been fascinating, and this was another great chapter in that book.
RATING: ****
Post-match, King gets to his feet and shakes Darby’s hand and takes his leave. Allin spots Knight in the upper level as he crumbles back to the mat. Excalibur runs down the card for Collision and next week’s three-hour edition of Dynamite/Collision. And with that, we are done!
