On the latest episode of Kliq This, Kevin Nash shared a few stories from the road in the 1990s that he called the “low lights” of his career. Nash was part of the WWE roster as Diesel during that era before he jumped ship to WCW. You can check out some highlights below:
On an exhausting travel day that ended with a mass nap in the ring:
“I was thinking today [about] the low lights of my wrestling career. I remember we were in Boston and we flew, the whole crew flew at 6 AM. So we basically left the bars and went to the airport, because there’s no reason to get a f**king hotel room. I remember sleeping on the — like, going to the gate. I think [X-]Pac slept in front of the door. So that way the flight attendants came, they couldn’t leave us. Because you had to get his dead body up, and then he’d wake us up. But the whole crew was — you know, sunglasses, just like laid out. Getting whatever sleep we could got on the plane, slept the whole way to San Antonio. And then got our rental cars, drove to the building.”
On the moment:
“I don’t know if it was — if it was that Rumble that we did from San Antonio? But it was the old HemisFair Arena. The old one before they built the Alamo Dome, or any of those other stadium-style down there. It was that exact same building in Shreveport, the exact same building in Little Rock, Arkansas. Architecturally, all three buildings are the same. And that HemisFair down in San Antonio had questionable f**king ventilation.
“And I remember getting there and everybody walking out the ring was already set up, and there were like, 23 guys sleeping in the ring. I just was waking up and like, your neck and your lower back is just killing you. And I remember Bam Bam was sleeping right next to me. I woke up, and we just kind of did one of those deals where you kind of look over. And then it’s like a slight roll the eyes like, ‘Can you f**king believe this?’ And then like, try to go back. ‘I gotta get some more sleep.’”
