Killer Kross and Scarlett say that WWE talent “constantly” discussed the rise in ticket prices in WWE. Ticket prices have become a conversation around WWE, as prices skyrocket in the TKO era. Despite the fact that ticket sales are slowing, WWE is reporting high profits thanks to the price boosts.
Kross and Scarlett appeared on Jonathan Coachman and Vince Russo’s Coach and Bro for an interview. During the conversation, the subject of WWE’s profits were brought up in the context of contract renegotiations. Scarlett pointed out the discussion backstage about it. Kross agreed and talked about how talent give up a lot for wrestling. As a result, they can feel discouraged when they aren’t getting better deals despite increased profits. You can see highlights below:
Scarlett On The Topic Of Ticket Prices Being Discussed Backstage:
“Constantly. We noticed it also with the comp tickets. We used to have no issues in different cities if we wanted to get comp tickets for friends and family. There were tickets that we were told were going to be approved. And then last minute… we were told that the comp tickets were available. And day of, there’s no tickets for people. But they’re deciding to sell them instead. So, like, little things like that we would notice. We noticed the ticket prices going higher, the fans would tell us. But it was definitely a topic of discussion amongst the locker room.”
Kross On WWE’s Profit Margins:
“I’ll tell you something. There’s a lot of high-paying jobs in the world, right? They’re not easy to get of course, but there’s a lot of high-paying jobs. If somebody is truly in their heart motivated by just money? I think the last job you would ever get is being a pro wrestler. Because it’s going to take time off your life and it’s going to take you away from most your holidays. It’s going to take you away from potentially like, spontaneous moments where a relative is about to give birth. And you know everyone rushes to the hospital. Your conventional life is over.
“People who get involved with wrestling really, really love wrestling. And it’s a principle in their mind they’re attempting to preserve that, ‘Hey, I should make a fair deal while I’m doing this. Because I’m giving away a lot to do this thing that I love.’ So a lot of people are motivated by the passion to perform live associated with a fair deal. So you could just imagine when a lot of a lot of the talent are hearing ‘billions coming in,’ of course they’re happy. Hey, the doors stay open, everyone’s enjoying the show. But when it comes time to have conversations about renegotiating and the conversations aren’t fair, you could imagine how people would feel, right?”
