Kota Ibushi has shared a recovery update roughly two months after his second surgery, posting footage of his activity and confirming his plan to return to the ring. The update was delivered through his official Instagram account.
The injury dates back to October during an episode of AEW Collision. Ibushi suffered a fractured femur after falling from the turnbuckle to the floor during a spot involving Josh Alexander. The injury required immediate medical attention and resulted in a lengthy recovery. Earlier medical evaluations indicated a potential recovery period of almost two years. In February, Ibushi revealed that a surgical screw had loosened, which required a second operation.
Despite those setbacks, Ibushi had previously stated in January that he was targeting a return in 2026. His latest post included clips of squats, stair runs, and general movement drills. In the caption, he stated that he plans to return and asked fans to wait for him.
“Hello. It’s been about two months since my second surgery. I will definitely be back, so please wait for me. Sending these feelings to Kenny, Bucks, and Tony Khan!! To my dear friends.”
No further statements have been issued regarding his status with AEW.
