Layla says she never turned down a storyline written for her and explained why that was the case. The WWE alumna was in some wild storylines over the years of her WWE run, including the infamous “Piggy James” feud between LayCool and Mickie James.

Layla spoke with SportShadow for a new interview and said that she never said no nor felt humiliated by any storylines personally, noting that she didn’t mind being made the butt of a joke as that was what she was being paid for. She also talked about how her entrance into the ring came about; you can check out the highlights below:

On Who Came Up With Her Entrance:

“It was actually a combination of stuff. Because if you reflect back in my career , when I was in ECW I used to hold my leg and bend it through and go all the way under the rope. And one day I did it, and Vince [McMahon] told somebody to tell me, ‘Don’t ever do that again. Not on hard cam; that’s it, don’t do that again.’ I was like ‘Okay.’

“So I knew I had to come up with an entrance. So I was in FCW and I was just trying all this stuff and Billy Kidman was there and I was like, this and that. He goes, ‘That’s it! That’s all you need.’ I literally was like, ‘What about something like this?’ I was going to keep going, being more elaborate. And he’s like, ‘That’s all you need.’ And I was like, ‘Okay.’ So, that’s how literally it originated because I couldn’t do my other entrance.”

On Not Saying ‘No’ To Storylines:

“I never said no to any storylines though. I’ll be honest with you. I really wasn’t the one that really said no to any storylines or felt anything humiliating. I didn’t even look at it like it’s humiliating because it was like, ‘I’m a performer. You’re paying me.’

“And I was fine. I’m adventurous. I didn’t mind being the one who was made a joke of, or the one in a fat suit running around, or the one being thrown a pile of mud, and stuff like that. Like, that’s the whole thing about WWE. Like, I’m an entertainer. I want the crowd to react and sometimes you’ve got to do things that might be perceived as humiliating, but to me, it’s like, I’m just performing. I’m just doing my job.”
