Leighty’s WWE Main Event Report 10.31.24

-As mentioned, I have a Bluesky account to go with my X account. I am trying to have Bluesky be all about wrestling and my reviews, but we will see how long that lasts. Let’s get to it!

-Announce Team: Blake Howard and Byron Saxton
-Taped: Giant Center, Hershey, PA

Otis (w/ Akira Tozawa and Maxxine Dupri) vs. Pete Dunne

-As always, the crowd really loves Otis. Dunne throws a heavy forearm and tries a side headlock, but gets shoved off and knocked down with a shoulder. Otis tosses Dunne across the ring on his face, but misses a charge and goes shoulder first into the post. Dunne wraps the arm around the post and lands a kick. SMALL JOINT MANIPULATION! Dunne stomps the hand and bends the fingers some more. Stomp to the elbow! Dunne just unloads with kicks to the face and starts slapping an increasingly annoyed Otis. He fires up and gets a clothesline. Otis rips off his shirt, but walks into an enziguiri. Otis back with a spinning back fist. He tries the Caterpillar, but Dunne STOMPS that hands. Brilliant! The crowd is pissed! Maxxine leads the crowd in a Butch chant which distracts Dunne. That lets Otis hit the rolling kick for the pin at 3:35.

Winner: Otis via pin at 3:35
-Seriously? They are given less than 4 minutes? This was fun and I wanted to see more. Dunne’s counter to The Caterpillar was great. The crowd loves Otis and he could have taken a loss to Dunne here. **

Kayden Carter and Katana Chance vs. Sonya Deville and Shayna Baszler (w/ Zoey Stark)

-Chance and Shayna get us started and Chance is sporting a protective face mask as her nose was broken by PFC. Shayna powers her into the corner and brings on Sonya. She goes after the protective mask, but misses a lunge in the corner. Change gets a running clothesline and tags in Carter. Double team move as Carter flips Chance into Sonya in the corner. Cool! Shayna back in and Carter boots her in the face. Carter and Chance use tandem offense on Shayna and then double baseball slide to both members of PFC. Shayna knocks Chance off the apron with a running knee as Sonya held her leg, and we take a break at 2:18.

-Crown Jewel commercial! Watching a show 2 weeks old is kind of jarring. Weird as I reviewing 1990 and that doesn’t seem to be as jarring.

-Back at 4:07 with Shayna getting a two count and then hooking a reverse chinlock. Deville back in and she unloads with a series of strikes in the corner. To another corner and now she fires off kicks. Devill gets a two count and goes a chinlock as well. Shayna back in and more chinlock fun. Chance gets a jawbreaker to escape and makes the tag to Carter. She runs wild with forearms to PFC. Running kick in the corner to Shayna and Carter lands on Sonya to get a two count. Super kick from the apron to Sonya. She springs off the bottom rope with a leg drop on Sonya for two. Carter suplexes Chance on Sonya for a two count. Deville lands a right hand, but Chance counters with an arm-drag. She misses a charge in the corner and Shayna hits a knee strike from the apron. Devil’s Advocate finishes at 8:10.

-This was solid as they were given a decent amount of time. I’ve always been a fan of Carter and Chance going back to their Level Up Days. I appreciate how they are a true tag team and work well together. PFC winning wasn’t a shock. **

Two okay matches this week though I was disappointed with how short the opener ran. This was the definition of an average show.
