– During a recent edition of Wrestling With Freddie, AEW star Mariah May discussed her new film premiere last week on AEW Dynamite. Below are some highlights (via Fightful):
Mariah May on her Dynamite film premiere: “I think AEW has an amazing editing team, I think they always knock it out of the park when it comes to pay-per-views and the little promos they show before a match. I have been by Toni’s side for almost a year now, so I remember standing there and watching them and they really do a beautiful job at just telling this story in under a minute, it doesn’t need to be long. They do a really good job of that. For me, I know who I am, I know who I want to portray.”
Her thoughts on Toni Storm: “Toni’s head is in the clouds and she’s a dreamer, I am not. I’m a realist, that’s how I got here. I want everything about my presentation to be stark and cold and to the point. I know it’s a complete contrast from who I am and if you watch me in Stardom, there was a lot of dancing and pink and all the works. But this is a completely different side of me and I work really close with them. I also work with RJ City who writes a lot of our stuff and we talk a lot about the character and I’ll chew his ear off just trying to understand it as much as possible to make sure that I believe what I’m saying, and I do. We’ve worked together on that to make sure it’s as real as it can be and believable as it can be. I loved how that film came out. It’s better than any film Toni has ever made.”
Mariah May challenges Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s World Championship later this weekend at AEW All In: London 2024. The event is being held at London’s Wembley Stadium on Sunday, August 25. It will be broadcast live on pay-per-view.
