More Backstage Details on Tommy Dreamer Exiting TNA Wrestling, Why TNA Parted Ways

As previously reported, Tommy Dreamer shockingly exited TNA Wrestling earlier this week from his role as head of creative for the company. Fightful Select has some additional insight regarding his exit.
It’s likely not surprising, but while TNA claimed Dreamer’s exit was a “mutual” parting of ways, it was TNA who decided it was time to move on from Dreamer. Additionally, it’s said that some within the company expected the change to happen after Slammiversary 2026. However, TNA parent company Anthem reportedly wanted a “fresher approach” to the major event.
As noted, Hunter Johnston has taken over TNA Wrestling’s creative following Dreamer’s exit. However, WWE Hall of Famer Brian James (aka Road Dogg) is expected to join TNA as the new creative lead soon.
Additionally, Fightful Select reports that Eric Tompkins is joining the creative team. Tompkins reportedly helped with AJ Francis’ segment last week, which received a great deal of praise.
