More Backstage Notes On John Cena’s Last Match, WWE Plans For Cena Going Forward

A new report has a few notes on John Cena’s final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event and WWE’s plays for the retired star moving forward. Saturday’s special saw Gunther defeat Cena in the main event. Cena is now retired from the ring, and Fightful cites an NBCUniversal source as saying that the show had the most buzz for a Peacock WWE event beyond WrestleMania.
Cena reportedly stayed around for a while backstage after the show. The site notes that he was saying goodbyes and taking pics with his coworkers and colleagues.
As has been noted, Cena is signed to five years with WWE and plans to be an ambassador for the company. He is expected (no surprise) to make WWE appearances in the future, both off and on camera. It’s not clear what extend any on-camera appearances might be. WWE has remained adamant that Cena will not wrestle again.
Finally, the site notes that Bayley, CM Punk and several others were seen in the audience watching John Cena’s match.
