MVP says it may be time to add a new member to The Hurt Syndicate and has explained why MJF’s run in the group didn’t last. The AEW stable has reolved around MVP, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin since its debut in late 2024. While they did expand the roster with the addition of MJF in mid-2025, his tenure with the group was short and he was kicked out of the faction by July.
MVP appeared on the Battleground Podcast and was asked about adding another member to the group. He ntoed that the Salt of the Earth just “wasn’t good enough” for the faction and while that turned the group off of the notion of expanding, he thinks it might be time to add someone younger to the group. You can see hte highlights below (per WrestlingNews.co):
On MJF’s Run With The Hurt Syndicate:
“The last go-around, we tried it with MJF. It didn’t go well because he just didn’t make the cut. He wasn’t good enough. He doesn’t have the drive, he doesn’t have the internal capability for true violence. He’s a huckster… I went out on a limb and vouched for him with my colleagues, but he just didn’t make the cut. That kind of soured us a little bit about trying to add somebody new.”
On Possibly Adding a New Member:
“We think we do need a little youthfulness. We need a youthful spark, so it could be about time to add a new member.”
