Speculation is growing that Vince McMahon could make a surprise return to WWE during John Cena’s farewell show later this year. Answering a question on McMahon’s possible appearance, Sean Ross Sapp suggested on Fightful Select Answers that, while unconfirmed, McMahon’s appearance at the highly anticipated event cannot be ruled out.
McMahon has remained absent from backstage activities since his departure in January 2024. WWE even edited him out of one of its vignettes a few months ago. However, Sean Ross Sapp noted that WWE does “whatever they want now” and that he couldn’t rule out a McMahon surprise appearance.
“I wouldn’t rule out him being at Cena’s last match. WWE tends to do whatever they want now.”
On Fightful Select Answers, Sapp noted the former WWE Chairman was at the June 2023 RAW in Hartford, Connecticut. Before that, he was at WrestleMania 39, reportedly changing the finish of Edge vs. Finn Balor, and at RAW the next night where he reportedly made major changes to the RAW script again.
At 77, time for me to retire.
Thank you, WWE Universe.
