Overall Attendance For NJPW G1 Climax 29 Up From Last Year

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that this year’s NJPW G1 Climax 29 tournament drew a total of 97,215 fans, which is up 6.5 percent from last year’s number, a record. The final three nights at Budokan Hall sold out, although the attendance for Kota Ibushi vs. Jay White (12,014) was down slightly from last year with Ibushi vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi (12,112). The finals sold out ahead of time in both cases, however.
The A Block final was up from last year, with Kazuchika Okada vs. Ibushi drawing 9,641 compared to 6,180 for Okada vs. Tanahashi. The B block final was down, however, with 9,821 for Tetsuya Naito vs. White, Shingo Takagi vs. Hirooki Goto and Jon Moxley vs. Juice Robinson, compared to 12,023 last year for Ibushi vs. Kenny Omega.
