Roman Reigns is set to headline WrestleMania 42 against CM Punk with the World Heavyweight Championship on the line. This will mark his 11th WrestleMania main event appearance. The bout follows Reigns’ recent victory in the Royal Rumble, which secured his position in the title picture.
In comments made during an interview with TMZ, Reigns addressed the upcoming match and his approach going into the event. He described Punk as an experienced and strategic competitor, while also noting differences. Reigns stated that his focus remains intact (via Wrestling Inc).
“Punk is – he’s not the athlete that I am. He’s a hell of a competitor, he’s a veteran, he’s savvy,” Reigns said about his opponent. “But I’m looking to go out there and just crush him, smash him, man.”
He also identified composure as a key factor. According to Roman Reigns, Punk has a reputation for capitalizing on his opponents’ mistakes.
“He’s good at making people make mistakes, and if I somehow slip up, or – you know – take a left when I should have made that right? He could capitalize so it’s a very serious matter,” the former champion explained.
The WrestleMania 42 main event is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas, with both opponents continuing their preparations ahead of the show. Further developments are expected leading up to the event.
