At WWE Crown Jewel in October, Roman Reigns commented that he didn’t want to see the fans again until Christmas. WWE Survivor Series: WarGames, taking place tonight, is about a month early. In a pre-show interview with Jackie Redmond for WWE, he had a short and to the point response to the discrepancy in his comments:

“Every day’s Christmas for the Tribal Chief. Merry Christmas!”

The rest of the interview mostly dealt with his assessment of the team dynamics at play in the main event, which may hint at how the booking will go. Regarding Paul Heyman’s team of Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Drew McIntyre, Logan Paul, and Brock Lesnar, he says, “It’s like assembling a bunch of mercenaries. If anything, they have a bunch of guys who are gonna be fighting and working for themselves. When hopefully, on my side, we have a bunch of smart men who understand there’s a role for everybody. And you should play it.”

“There’s never been a superstar, there’s never been a top guy that led others like me. My place at the head of the table is cemented. That’s where I belong. If [my team] wanna win, they’ll listen to me.”

Reigns leads a team consisting of the Usos, CM Punk, and Cody Rhodes. This despite comments that in the past, he “Shoulda kept it family only, Bloodline only. People with the same blood coursing through the same veins. That was my biggest mistake.”

As for Paul Heyman’s post-Bloodline proteges? “His super power is he can identify who that future star could be. He’s gonna ride ’em till the wheels fall off, and then find the next guy, so I think he’s doing exactly what he set out to do.”
