Salvatore Bellomo has passed away at age 67.

Bellomo was best known for his time in the World Wrestling Federation where he was a popular preliminary wrestler from 1983 to 1987. He would usually work the opening matches on the U.S. East Coast house shows against preliminary heels or the big heels who were being groomed for a big push.

Many of his house show matches were taped for airing on WWF Prime Time Wrestling and WWF Tuesday Night Titans in the 1980s. When he appeared on the WWF syndicated shows like Championship Wrestling and Superstars of Wrestling, he was the target of jokes from the heel announcers and heels like “Rowdy” Roddy Piper because of his name and not having the bodybuilder look.

He wrestled for Eastern Championship Wrestling/original Extreme Championship Wrestling in the early 1990s.

In later years, Bellomo changed his look and style, and added in the nickname “The Wildman”.
