STARDOM 5STAR Grand Prix Night 3
August 1st, 2025 | Big Palette Fukushima in Big Palette Fukushima | Attendance: 384
We move onto the Blue Stars for tonight’s festivities. Of note, Ruaka is out with an illness so she loses to Aya Sakura via forfeit. Also, no Hina or HANAKO on this card so they stay with their points from night one.
Blue Stars A Block: Bozilla [1] vs. Yuria Hime [0]
Bozilla’s tournament got off to a disappointing start, going to a double countout with an undercard girl in Ruaka. I know Ruaka is starting to get something of a push but still. Yuria fired off as many shots at Bozilla as she could even if they didn’t have much of an impact. She fared better when she got Bozilla on the mat and kept her grounded, though that didn’t last long. Bozilla powered up and won with a piledriver in 4:15. Short, sweet, and to the point. [**½]
Blue Stars B Block: Momo Kohgo [0] vs. Suzu Suzuki [2]
I liked Momo opening this with a pre-bell dropkick. She’s a babyface but she also knows that she’s a longshot here so I appreciate her trying to gain an edge. I need more stuff like that in tournaments rather than people just going through the motions. That allowed her to get some stuff going and she looked to keep Suzu on the mat, working a pretty lengthy submission early on. I was surprised to see her engage in a forearm strike exchange with Suzu, where she’s clearly outmatched. Suzu got going and hit a German suplex followed by a series of kicks before winning with Tequila Shot in 6:51. Another match that was to the point. Quality stuff here and about all you can ask for in these cases. [**½]
Blue Stars B Block: Ranna Yagami [0] vs. Sareee [0]
We learned on night one that Sareee is possibly the most wanted woman in STARDOM right now. Her negative words about the company have made her public enemy #1. This started like a clear fight, with Ranna attacking with a quick dropkick and things spilling outside where they were laying into each other. That gave this the kind of intensity I’m hoping all Sareee tourney matches have. Sareee was great as an absolute asshole here, stepping on Ranna and taunting her as she did her offense. She even hair tossed her with an air of disrespect behind it. Ranna refused to back down though, trying to give as best as she got. Sareee got two on a fisherman suplex and added a double stomp before giving us a cocky pin to win in 10:36. Oh yeah, Sareee is about to have an all-timer tournament. Two-for-two in intense, hard hitting matches. The best of Ranna’s young career. [***¾]
Blue Stars A Block: Miyu Amasaki [2] vs. Saori Anou [2]
Miyu seemed to want to have some fun to start this but Saori, as usual, wasn’t interested in antics. That meant they were trading forearms instead to start this. That set the tone for this match, which was hard hitting in the same vein as Ranna/Sareee. I wasn’t expecting that here but I was pleasantly surprised. Miyu’s array of DDTs do help her stand out, though it doesn’t always make for the most compelling of matches. I think she utilized them well here. Saori blocked Miyu’s finisher and snapped off a German suplex but nearly lost to a tight pinning combination. I bit. Saori avoided a tornado DDT and used an interesting backslide combo to win in 10:03. I thought that was quite good. Back and forth wrestling with more intensity than I was expecting. [***½]
Blue Stars A Block: Konami [2] vs. Momo Watanabe [2]
Konami had a huge win on night one over Sareee in a heated match where she actually got positive cheers. Despite being stablemates here, these two didn’t hold back. It’s double the HATE so these two fighting into the crowd and throwing each other into chairs is to be expected. Outside of the usual staples from HATE matches, this was pretty standard back and forth. Neither woman was made to look better than the other as they were really painting them both as kind of the #2 in the stable (Saya is clear #1 and Natsuko, while still booked strong, is past her prime). In the end, Momo won with Peach Sunrise at the 10:28 mark. It was solid but very forgettable. [***]
Blue Stars A Block: Ami Sohrei [2] vs. Saya Iida [0]
Not exactly what I’d book as a main event but what do I know? Nothing against either woman, it’s just not a big match on paper. Also, it being two babyfaces means it lacks some edge. Anyway, I liked the early battle as they tested each other’s strength. They just kept ramming into each other looking to send the other one back to the point where it went outside so they could get more momentum on their runs. Ami cutting it off to try a slam was disappointing though. I wanted to see a winner there. They kept playing up the power battle as everything here kind of felt like a struggle in a good way. They’d jockey for position and leverage on almost everything, even simple suplexes. Both of them kicked out of big moves down the stretch until Ami won with Like Thunder at the 12:00 mark. A pretty darn good main event though it never teased being great. [***¼]
