Teddy Long has a longstanding friendship with The Undertaker, and he says Taker is a great guy to be in charge of AAA’s creative. Long and Undertaker have been associated together for well over 30 years, all the way back to their days in WCW. Long became known as the man who would make people go “one on one with the Undertaker” during his run as Smackdown GM.

Long reflected on his relationship with the Dead Man on TMZ Inside the Ring. He talked about how Taker would help people working out their matches of his own volition in WWE. He also noted that Undertaker is the perfect guy to be in charge, as he knows how to talk to people and coach them. You can see highlights below:

On His Friendship With Undertaker:

“Well, he was Mean Mark Callous at the time, and WCW is where I started managing him. Man, me and Taker have been friends for over 20-some years. And I mean, one of the nicest guys that you could ever meet. I mean, super nice. He cared about people.

“Undertaker was the only guy that I knew that would come to TV, and he would walk down to the ring and he would stop and he would watch and see stuff. And when he felt like he needed to help some guys out, he would go to them and get in the ring. Nobody asked him. nobody. He’d go get in and he would help him on his own. He believed in helping people and trying to help the young talent. He’s — like I said, one of the nicest guys you could ever meet.”

On Undertaker Being the Booker For AAA Now:

“Boy, they are so great to have him. Golly, what a great guy to have in charge. Because he ain’t going to be yelling, cussing. You know, he’s going to treat you like a human being, and he’s going to talk to you with some sense. And if you did something wrong, he’s going to explain it to you.

“Like back in the day, you might do something wrong. Soon as you get back there [the booker would say], ‘God damn it. Who in the hell do–‘ You know what I mean? But you can’t talk to people that way now. You got to come around and let people know, ‘Hey yeah, you did something wrong and here’s why here’s what I think you did.’ It don’t take all that, but that’s just the way it was back in the day. But like I said, to have Taker with them — what a great opportunity.”
