The Rock Shares Tribute to John Cena Ahead of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event

Former WWE Champion Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson shared a heartfelt tribute video to John Cena ahead of his last match at tonight’s WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. You can check out the video The Rock shared on his Instagram account below.
The Rock wrote in the caption of the video, “John, you epitomize one of my favorite quotes, ‘It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice.’ Congratulations on your historic and extraordinary @wwe career, my friend. Have fun, tear it down, and as always, ‘Thank you for the house.'”
Of course, The Rock and John Cena had their own epic rivalry over the years in WWE, which The Rock mentions in the video. He says, “I want to say thank you for the contributions, all of your accomplishments, your passion, your commitment to this wild and crazy world that’s unpredictable in all the things that it is of professional wrestling that we love.”
The Rock continued, “And I want to thank you for that because I feel like you and I have this wild and crazy history, and yes, we have spilled blood together in our matches, literally. We have torn tendons, literally, in our matches; we’ve broken records, and man, that has been incredible. And I’ll always be proud of that and what you and I were able to accomplish together as a team, along with the rest of the roster, as it was back during those days, and it was awesome. And that was rare air that we were able to breathe, and I will always be grateful for that.”
The Rock also jokingly revealed that the thing that he discovers that he loves the most about Cena is his “jorts.” The Rock added, “The thing that I love most about you is your jorts. I’m only kidding *Laughs*. I love the jorts. The thing I love most about you is that you’re a good human being. And man, that matters.” He went on, “The more you go down the road of life, the more you realize how important it is being a good human being, and being kind to people, and treating people nice, and being nice to people. It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice. You epitomize that quote.”
The Rock also thanked Cena for everything he’s done for WWE and wrestling, and he also made mention of Cena’s family, thanking them for their sacrifices over the course of Cena’s career. He also advised John Cena to go out and “have fun” for his last match, saying, “John Cena, you are the GOAT. Go have ****ing fun, and tear that house down, man.”
WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, featuring John Cena wrestling Gunther in Cena’s final match, goes down later tonight at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. The event airs live on Peacock in the U.S. and on Netflix internationally.
