Triple H says that his previous health issues are firmly in the past, and noted that being around WWE’s younger talent these days is keeping him young. The WWE CCO officially retired from the ring in March of 2022 after nearly dying from a heart issue back in September of 2021.

Since retiring, Triple H has moved on and now heads up the creative process for WWE. He was asked about his health issues in his interview with Stephen A. Smith and said that he’s doing what he can to make sure that his health problems remain in the rearview. He added that the new youth movement on the WWE roster has re-energized him and that he loves what he’s doing, and hopes he can keep doing it for a long time. You can see the highlights below:

On His Looking Healthy and Excited For the Future:

“No, I think that’s very observant and I think you’re spot on. You know, there’s moments in time where everybody has setbacks in life, and things hit you hard. Life comes at you, and life’s what happens when you’re busy planning other things. You don’t expect it and you don’t see it coming. But I did have the issues. They’re behind me now. I’m — you know, I want to make sure they stay behind me, so I’m cautious of everything I do and I’m protective of it.

“But at the same point in time — you know, you have to have something that you’re passionate about in your life, and your ‘why.’ And outside of my family, my kids, my wife, my family life, this is my ‘why.’ And I love this business, it’s been incredibly good to me, my family, to everything I have including my wife and my kids. And it all stems in some manner — if I wasn’t in this business, I would have never met her, you know, all those things. So to me, yeah, I’m passionate about this.”

On Working With the Younger Talent:

The one thing that’s funny to me is, you mentioned Jerry Jones saying putting youth around him. When you put youth around you, that youth gets all over you, man. And it’s the greatest thing in the world. So anytime I’m around these kids, when I’m on the road, people talk to me about, ‘God, you want to back off being on the road?’ We’re live two to three times a week, we’re in a different city all the time. It’s a lot, man. The travel, the grind, it’s still there. But it’s hard to put down because I love it. I love being around those kids. I love collaborating with them and helping them, and sort of riffing ideas with them. It keeps you young and it’s it’s the greatest part of my job. It’s like being in the fountain of youth at all times. And just — they keep you young and thinking young, and I get as much out of being around them as they get around being around us old-timers, you know. So it’s a blast. I’m having a blast doing it and I want to keep doing it.”
