As previously reported, Giulia suffered a wrist fracture during the main event of Marigold Fields Forever earlier this week. Giulia is expected to join WWE, as there were reportedly plans for her to wrestle Roxanne Perez at NXT Heatwave on July 7 in Toronto. Those plans aren’t believed to be set in stone, however, and could change depending on her injury and Marigold commitments.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that her return date was not happening that soon, according to sources close to her. However, NXT sources insisted to Fightful Select that WWE wants her to debut at Heatwave. It was noted that while this could change, at the very least Giulia will make her debut challenging Perez for the title. Perez’s storyline with Ava is believed to be the catalyst that sets up the match. Roxanne has been working stiffer at live events to prepare for the match.

Marigold sources noted to Fightful that Giulia will want to make up the dates she’s missing due to injury and wants to return as soon as she is healthy. Both WWE and Marigold sources added that she is not exclusive to NXT and WWE for a while and will keep working with Marigold. This was part of her negotiations when she joined WWE in April.

The WON, which noted that all of the “necessary paperwork” to get her, her mother and boyfriend in Florida (so she can wrestle full-time in NXT) hasn’t been completed. Of course, Heatwave is in Canada, not the US, where visa restrictions are more lax. Giulia has said the date isn’t accurate but the WON suggests that wrestlers are told to lie by WWE about when they will debut. Fightful adds that NXT officials expect Giulia to appear for the brand before she makes a permanent move to the US. However, NXT sources told Fightful that Giulia will not have any issues with her visa when it comes to working in the US either. Fightful adds that WWE is reportedly okay with Giulia staying in Japan to heal and won’t interfere with her plans to wrestle for Marigold to make up for lost time.

As for Giulia’s injury, it’s believed that the fracture isn’t as bad as initially feared. Of course, a return is still “up in the air” depending on how the injury heals.

The current plan is to present Giulia as the female face of NXT when she eventually does arrive, with one source expecting her to surpass Asuka’s success on the brand.
