Leighty’s WWE Main Event Review 10.09.25

-Please check out my Retro Review of Survivor Series 1992!

-I was up early this morning and watched Crown Jewel. Styles/Cena was the most fun I had watching a match this year and is my vote for Match of the Year. A much better show this time compared to the first WWE/ESPN offering. If I can find time, I my do a rare review of something current and give Crown Jewel a proper review. For now, it’s Main Event. Let’s get to it!

-Announce Team: Blake Howard and Vic Joseph

Nathan Frazer (w/ Axiom) vs. Angelo Dawkins (w/ Montez Ford)

-Dawkins gets to work in front of his home town crowd as this match was taped in Cincinnati. Cool! Lockup and Dawkins has the clear power advanatage as he shoves Frazer across the ring. Frazer jumps up for a headlock and takes it to the mat. Dawkins shoves off and gets a shoulder tackle. Frazer hits the ropes and picks up speed before hitting a dropkick that sends Dawkins to the floor. Frazer goes for a dive, but Dawkins punches him to block. Back in the ring he fires off jabs and a hook in the corner. Dawkins hooks a reverse chinlock and that goes longer than needed for a Main Event match. Frazer flips out but gets caught with a splash in the corner followed by an enziguiri. Double under-hook into a spinning neckbreaker gets two. Frazer lands a desperation kick and avoids a spinning splash in the corner. Springboard dropkick from Frazer and this time he catches Dawkins on the floor with a tope con hilo. Back in the ring a Frogsplash gets two. Phoenix Splash, but Dawkins meets him up there to block. Frazer knocks him down and goes for The Phoenix Splash, but Dawkins moves out of the way. Frazer rolls through but runs into a Sky-High for the pin at 4:56.

Winner: Angelo Dawkins via pin at 4:56
-Just a basic Main Event match with a hotter crowd due to Dawkins. I was expecting a little more but it was fine. **

-They shake hands and hug after the match.

-Peacock commercials!

-Back to RAW as we get a verbal spat with Heyman/Reed against Roman. They set up an Australian Street Fight for Crown Jewel. I won’t spoil anything if you haven’t seen it yet. They end up brawling and Roman hits a Superman punch as officials try to separate them.

-AJ Styles/John Cena video package with TNA footage. Great stuff! These two men never had a bad match against each other.

-Back to RAW as Judgment Day interrupt an AJ interview and we end up with a 6 Man Tag.

-Peacock commercials!

-WWE Shop commercial!

-SNME Dec 13 in DC is John Cena’s last match!

-Back to RAW for the 6 Man Tag as AJ Styles finds Penta and Dragon Lee as his partners. It was a fun 6 Man Party Match that sees Rusev get involved. AJ gets the pin on JD which makes all the sense as Styles needs a win heading to Crown Jewel and JD can eat losses every week for Judgment Day.

-Peacock commercials!

-Great video package on Seth/Cody. That Cell Match where Cody wrestled with a torn pec is still wild to me. Again, just a great job by WWE production staff as they kill it with these videos.

The War Raiders vs. Los Americanos (w/ El Grande Americano)

-Ivar starts with Bravo (I think) and drops him with a clothesline. Blind tag to Rayo and they double team Ivar. Americanos hit a pose after a double head-butt. Erik gets the tag and runs down whoever is wearing the red mask. Everyone in the ring and we get slams from the War Raiders. Erik slams Ivar on one Americano and a clothesline sends both to the floor. We take a break at 2:20.

-45 seconds of Peacock commercials!

-Salt Lake City gets SmackDown on Oct 31 and SNME on Nov 1.

-Back at 3:37 with Erik trying a vertical suplex on the red one, but he slips out. Tag to Blue and he hits a Code Breaker. Americanos work Erik over in the corner as Joseph mentions they had to work for their food in Mexico and have been so successful, statues have been built in Mexico. Blue hooks a front facelock as the crowd tries to rally Erik. Red one gets the tag, but so does Erik. Ivar runs wild but misses a splash in the corner. He hits Blue with a handspring elbow. Sit-out powerbomb to Red. Blue back with a superkick to Erik. He comes back with a knee to the jaw. Spinning heel kick from Ivar. Grande passes something to Blue, who loads his mask. He comes off the top with a head-butt into a Leg Sweep from Red for the pin at 8:25.

Winners: Los Americanos via pin at 8:25
-Again, just kind of a match. It got kind of interesting in the final 30 seconds, but I was kind of bored up until then. **

-Back to RAW as CM Punk is back and we get LA Knight and Jey Uso involved. They all want The World Title and it seems like they may end up on the same team come Survivor Series. Jey gets tired of Knight and drops him with a superkick. Jimmy is out and we end up with Punk decking Jey. Jimmy they superkicks Punk. This all leads to Punk/Knight vs. The Usos as our RAW Main Event.

-Peacock commercials!

-Back to RAW as we join the tag Main Event in progress. Weird that Punk/Knight would beat The Usos, but here we are. Knight tags himself in after Punk hits Go 2 Sleep and steals the pin.

-Thanks for reading!

Not a fan of the show this week as I was left wanting more from both matches. The matches are the same length as always, but the show has a longer run time and is being padded with more commercials. That kind of makes it drag a bit more as well. Thankfully, Crown Jewel gave me my wrestling fix for the day.
