The bout order for WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event is still unclear. During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, John Cena informed Kimmel that he wanted his retirement match against Gunther, scheduled for this weekend, to go on first. Then the rest of the show would be dedicated to showcasing the future stars of tomorrow.
Dave Meltzer commented on the bout order rumors on today’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio. Meltzer stated he was informed that the match order for this weekend’s event was still “not determined.”
Meltzer stated, “When I asked about what the match order would be, I was told that it was not determined because on Raw on Monday, Joe Tessitore was saying, ‘Immediately after the main event,’ and the Cena match is the main event, ‘Immediately after the main event, we’re going to the post-game show.”
Tessitore’s comments suggest that Cena versus Gunther will go on last. However, Meltzer continued, “But then I’m hearing — obviously, a week ago, I heard it [Cena versus Gunther] was first.” It appears plans have now changed, as Meltzer later noted, “I was told that it’s still in discussion, so whatever that means.”
Regardless, WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event takes place on December 13. The event features John Cena wrestling the last match of his career. It takes place at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. It will air live on Peacock in the U.S. and on Netflix internationally.
