King Of Trios 2016 Semi Final Match
Team Sendai Girls (Cassandra Miyagi, DASH Chisako & Meiko Satomura) vs. Warriors Three (Oleg The Usurper, Princess KimberLee & The Estonian ThunderFrog)
This was a super effective opener. It was worked exactly like it needed to be. It was an all-out sprint with both teams clearly recognizing that they needed to finish each other as quickly as possible if they were going to have enough left in the tank to win the final as well. It was fun, full of energy, and ended up being one of the most successful matches of the whole tournament. Good job! Satomura finished Lee with a cross amrbreaker to take the match. (***1/2)

King Of Trios 2016 Semi Final Match
Team JWP (Command Bolshoi, Hanako Nakamori & Manami Katsu) vs. The heXed Men (Hallowicked, Icarus & Jigsaw)
This was shaping up to be a damn fine match. Then they had one of the worst finishes in a big spot in company history. The rudos got control during the finishing stretch and then appeared to be on the verge of victory. They kept having Nakamori finished, but they always picked her up to do more damage. The match eventually ended via referee stoppage…to give the victory to Team JWP. Yes, the rudos were disqualified for kicking too much ass. The idea that company run and dominated by men started bragging on camera about having an all-female tournament final when they have a representative team from one of the most prestigious Japanese female-based promotions win for losing too badly to a bunch of old Chikara dorks is a fucking disgrace. Just embarrassing. (**)

Arik Cannon vs. Mark Angelosetti
This was inoffensive but nothing you need to see at the same time. Touchdown has lost all of his juice by getting rid of the gimmick and becoming a goon of the main rudo group that no one seems to want to care about. Cannon was looking trim and motivated though so there was that. Touchdown won cleanly. (**¼

Tag Team Gauntlet Match
D-X (Billy Gunn) & X-Pac vs. Cornelius Crummels & Sonny Defarge vs. Dez Peloton (Donald Kluger & Jasper Tippins) vs. Hermit Crab & Rock Lobster vs. Los Ice Creams (El Hijo del Ice Cream & Ice Cream Jr.) vs. N_R_G (Hype Rockwell & Race Jaxon) vs. Drew Gulak & Orange Cassidy vs. Prakash Sabar &The Proletariat Boar Of Moldova vs. Team Big Deal (Rick Roland & Sloan Caprice) vs. Team Sea Stars (Ashley Vox & Delmi Exo) vs. The Devastation Corporation (Blaster McMassive & Flex Rumblecrunch)
This was fucking awful as always. The only entertaining portion was Billy Gunn not getting the PG/family friendly element whatsoever. Holy fuck. Gunn and X-Pac won. (DUD)

Chuck Taylor vs. Lucas Calhoun
This was an effective comedy match even if it was not for me. The big spot was Calhoun stringing Chuck up in the ropes so that everyone in the crowd and in the locker room could walk by and get some shots in. The idea of stringing up a black dude so that white people could form a conga line and beat him up is hashtag very problematic, but Chikara is clearly going in an Inter Species Wrestling direction. Rey de Voladores 2016 Final Match
Aero Star vs. Tony Nese
While this did not come close to the best RDV matches ever by any stretch of the imagination, it was a fun and unique contest. They did not try to blow the roof off the place. They just went for solid, and it worked out just dandy. Nese has a bounce in his step these days, and he replacing Frightmare here was for the benefit of everyone. Aero Star won with a slingshot Codebreaker. (***)

Queen Of Trios 2016 Final Match
Team JWP (Command Bolshoi, Hanako Nakamori & Manami Katsu) vs. Team Sendai Girls (Cassandra Miyagi, DASH Chisako & Meiko Satomura)
This was a unsurprisingly a very strong effort and very satisfying conclusion to yet another successful QUEEN of Trios weekend. Both teams sold the contest as important, the injured parties were still selling from events earlier in the show, and the action was basically fun from beginning to end. While you could argue that Chikara forced this moment or that this weekend should be used to push regular roster members, there is no question that the final served its main goals and was presented well. Satomura eventually won with a DVD on Katsu. (***¼

#NewCoke, for the second year in a row, managed to deliver high quality action without potentially breaking the bank to do so. Yay, New Coke!
