PWG World Tag Team Title Dynamite Duumvirate Tag Team Title Tournament 2010 First Round Match
The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) (c) vs. Jerome Robinson & Johnny Goodtime
The Bucks started the match by hitting the challengers with the belts. The Bucks worked over LTP for a little bit, and Goodime then made a hot tag. The teams started going back and forth. Goodtime got a great nearfall on Nick with a small package. Goodtime then got a great nearfall on Matt with a frog splash. Nick tossed Goodtime into the crowd. LTP then got destroyed with a powerbomb and a springboard double stomp. TOPE CON HELLO ON GOODTIME! LTP ate two superkicks and then Early Onset Alzheimer’s: 1…2…3!
This was everything you would want from a DDT4 opener. The crowd was going ballistic and peaked at all the right times. The action was exciting and came across as cutting-edge. On top of that, the Bucks made Goodtime and LTP look like credible challengers and potential champions down the line (spoiler: this was the peak of this particular team. I’m not even sure they ever teamed again). This was a fantastic start to the show.

Dynamite Duumvirate Tag Team Title Tournament 2010 First Round Match
Chuck Taylor & Scott Lost vs. Peligro Abejas (El Generico & Paul London)
Taylor and Lost attacked Peligro Abejas before the bell. Chuck went for a dive, but he came up completely empty. Lost was then worked over for a bit. Taylor finally recovered though and the rudos worked over Generico. This went on for a while. London eventually blindly tagged in, and then ran wild. He put on a cop siren to signal his return tot he match. Lost blocked a Generico dive, but London then hit him with a dive. Chuck pulled out the hand grenade, but London put it in his pants. London stuff the grenade in Chuck’s pants and then hit a Manhattan Drop. The teams were going back and forth by this point. Lost accidentally gave Chuck a double stomp, and London then finished Chuck with a shooting star press: 1…2…3!
While this match did not reach the heights of the opener, it provided plenty of fun. The heat segment on Generico was too long, but they made up for it with an exciting back and forth sequence with plenty of nifty moments.

Dynamite Duumvirate Tag Team Title Tournament 2010 First Round Match
Roderick Strong & Ryan Taylor vs. The Cutler Brothers (Brandon Cutler & Dustin Cutler)
I do not have much confidence in this match.
After a slow start, the Cutlers cut off Taylor and worked him over. This has been a very dull match so far. We can only hope that a Roddy Strong hot tag will cure that ill. Roddy, in fact, did make a fun hot tag. The teams started going back and forth. Roddy and Ryan almost had Dustin finished, but Brandon made the save. The Cutlers came right back and finished Taylor with the tandem tombstone: 1…2…3
Despite not being entertaining in basically any way, I appreciate that the wrestlers did not go too long. The fans popped big for the finish at least.

Dynamite Duumvirate Tag Team Title Tournament 2010 First Round Match
KAMIKAZE (Akira Tozawa & YAMATO) vs. The Briscoe Brothers (Jay Briscoe & Mark Briscoe)
This could be quite good. I know the Briscoes and Tozawa worked really well together in the 2011 DDT4, but I do not remember this match at all.
Kamikaze were dominating early on. The Briscoes came back though. Tozawa was in all-out cocaine mode here. The Briscoes finally manged to cut him off and then worked him over. Jay pantsed Tozawa, but Tozawa then gave him a butt bump. Something, something, something, Jay Briscoe is very homophobic. That gave Tozawa a chance to tag out. YAMATO made a big comeback. Tozawa, with his ass still out, hit a dive on Mark. The teams started going back and forth. YAMATO gave Mark a ridiculous sleeper suplex. The teams kept going and going until the Briscoes finished Tozawa with a Doomsday Device.
Tozawa got a “Please Come Back!” chant. This was Tozawa’s debut in PWG, and you can see why he instantly became a crowd-favorite. He would become a regular for the company for the next twelve months or so.
This match worked as a collection of great moments. The structure of the match was loose and secondary to the series of fun sequences and spots that happened. That’s a hard formula to execute, but it definitely worked here.

PWG World Tag Team Title Dynamite Duumvirate Tag Team Title Tournament 2010 Semi Final Match
The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) (c) vs. The Cutler Brothers (Brandon Cutler & Dustin Cutler)
There were some shenanigans before the match.
Instead of working the pace of the opener, they started out by working the pace of the Cutlers’ first round match. In other words, the opening minutes of the match were not that entertaining. The Bucks eventually cut off Brandon and worked him over. Dustin then made an, admittedly, awesome hot tag. That hot tag was probably the best moment in the Cutlers’ wrestling career. The teams did of course start going back and forth. Nick saved Matt from a tombstone with two superkicks. Dustin then survived a tombstone. The teams continued to keep going. The Bucks finally won after a More Bang for Your Buck.
Much like the last match, this one had a number of strong moments and sequences (the Dustin hot tag being the best part of the match by far), but those were not enough to completely make up for the dull aspects of the match.

Dynamite Duumvirate Tag Team Title Tournament 2010 First Round Match
Peligro Abejas (El Generico & Paul London) vs. The Briscoe Brothers (Jay Briscoe & Mark Briscoe)
They traded control for a while. Just as Peligro Abejas threatened to get control, the Briscoes cut off Generico and then worked him over. London eventually tagged in. Paul got cut off though and then worked over. Generico made the hot tag. It turned out to be just a lukewarm tag though. The Briscoes went to finish Generico with the Doomsday Device, but Generico got a victory roll on Jay: 1…2…3
Wow, that was fine and put over Peligro Abejas as a crafty team on their way to the finals. It wasn’t much of a match though.

Brandon Bonham vs. Chris Hero
Oh gawd, why do I have to watch this?
Chucky T and Excalibur talked about Community at the start of the match. Chuck hasn’t watched yet, but he is a fan of Donald Glover. Excalibur got a little creepy talking about Gillian Jacobs and Alison Brie. Jacobs recently started supporting PWG at this point. Is there a match going on? Goddangit, I will try to recap it. Bonham hit a very nice tope con HELLO. They started trading strikes on the floor. Hero got control in the ring. Why is this match still going? I feel like I should go back to thoughts on Community. I really enjoyed season 5 and thought it was a return to form overall. I’m pretty excited for season 6 on Yahoo Screen or whatever that is call. They just kept going and going and going and going. Hero hit what I can only describe as a cravat neckbreaker. That was at least pretty cool. MORE BACK AND FORTH ACTION. FFS. Hero finally finished him with an elevated Hero’s Welcome.
Awful. Awful. Awful. Bonham was game, but Hero really insisted on doing a lengthy strike-fest style for absolutely no reason.

PWG World Tag Team Title Dynamite Duumvirate Tag Team Title Tournament 2010 Final Match
The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) (c) vs. Peligro Abejas (El Generico & Paul London)
The Bucks ran them down before the match. London called them “rotten apples.” The Bucks called London a pothead. London didn’t seem offended. The Bucks decided to get counted out. Rick Knox said the Bucks could not do that. Was this the start of their feud???? Generico and London went to the back to get them. The match started as a brawl on the floor. It took a while for the bell to ring though. Excalibur was annoyed at the bell ringer.
As the match settled in, the Bucks isolated and worked over Generico. He eventually escaped, and London made the hot tag. Generico got back involved and hit Matt with a dive. London finished Nick with a full-nelson slam, but Knox stopped counting after two for some reason. The match proceeded to get very awkward, as I am forced to imagine that Nick got injured on that full-nelson slam. The Bucks went to the back. Peligro Abejas followed them to the back. Then the Bucks came back out. Peligro Abejas came back out. Nick must have been knocked the fuck out. London got a very un-dramatic SSP nearfall on Matt. Generico then hit Matt with a brainbuster with an only slightly more dramatic nearfall. The Bucks used London’s megaphone to get DQed, but Knox refused to DQ them. Matt slapped him, but Knox then gave them his leaping double lariat! BRAINBUSTER: 1…2…NO!!! The match is saved. London gave Nick a double stomp and then gave Matt a tope con HELLO. Two yakuzas Nick. Matt prevented a London SSP though. Early Onset Alzheimer’s for Generico. Nick, concussed and all, managed to do his part of the More Bang for Your Buck…but Generico kicked out! London saved Generico from another More Bang, and Generico then gave Nick the BRAINBUSTAHHHHH: 1…2…3!
“These are steroid free, dick-sucking politics free, titles. This is the most natural high you could ever get.” London has a way with words.
This match was basically a complete mess for a significant portion of the match, but the final five minutes are arguably as great as independent wrestling can be. A true mixed bag of a main event!
