411’s ECW on Sci-Fi Report 6.03.08
Welcome to the ECW on Sci-Fi! As always, I am Michael Bauer, your 411 ECW Re-capper.
We open with staff cleaning out Armando’s dressing room as the GM told them too. Armando said he is the GM. Teddy Long comes in and says he is not the GM anymore… holla, holla.
Cue the opening video and pyro as we go to Mike Adamle and Tazz at ringside as they can’t explain the new GM either.
Winner Faces Kane Tonight: CM Punk vs. Tommy Dreamer vs. Chavo Guerrero vs. John Morrison
As announced, the winner faces Kane tonight… in a non title match. The fuck is the point then?!?! Tommy Dreamer comes out limping as we see clips of The Big Show getting cut open and then dominating everyone close to the ring at One Night Stand. They also say that The Big Show has 8 stitches, a cracked orbital bone, and that he hopes to be ready for Night of Champions with no vision in his eye right now. Damn! The bell rings and Chavo attacks Punk as John goes after Tommy. Tommy gets kneed in the gut and snap mares Dreamer. Dreamer with a huge hip toss and an elbow drop. Dreamer slugs Punk and backs him in the corner as Chavo goes after Morrison. Punk backs Dreamer in a corner and gets a quick rollup for two on Chavo. John pounds Dreamer and Chavo comes from behind and attacks Morrison. Morrison gets clotheslined to the floor by Dreamer. Dreamer dives onto Morrison. Chavo dives onto Dreamer. CM Punk makes it a third on Chavo. Morrison grabs Chavo and drops him on the ring apron after decking Punk. Punk in the ring and reverses a whip. Punk hits the high knee. Morrison shoves off the bulldog and hits a springboard enziguri. Dreamer comes in and applies a Texas Cloverleaf, but Chavo breaks it up and hits the three amigos. Chavo heads up top and Morrison catches him. John up now and Punk trips them both up. John in the Tree of Woe and Tommy is up… low dropkick to the face. Punk dives in with a springboard clothesline. Dreamer kicks out, but Chavo hits a frog splash. Punk grabs Chavo and hits the GO2SLEEP! Pinfall and that is it at 5:06.
Winner: CM Punk
Backstage, Long says the board has named him the new GM and that Estrada is still a high paid wrestler… overpaid in fact. Estrada asks for him to help him. Long says he has fair and that Estrada will be in a match tonight against Matt Hardy. Estrada looks pissed.
Shelton Benjamin vs. Matt Sydal
Kofi Kingston joins the commentary team tonight as Shelton comes out. What a surprise. HOLY SHIT… MATT SYDAL!!! Time for me RoH markness to show. The bell rings and Matt gets dropped right on his back. Sydal rolls up Shelton and hits a quick kick to the head and a head scissors. Sydal heads up top and hits a double knee to the face for a two count. Holy crap, represent your time in Japan, Matt!! Shelton gets pissed and starts pounding on Shelton. Shelton lifts up Matt in a gorilla press and lands a gut buster. Shelton stomps away and throws Matt hard into the turnbuckle, where he flips. Shelton locks in an armbar, but Matt fights out and walks into a clothesline. Shelton chucks Matt Sydal out to the floor right in front of Kofi. Shelton comes out and jaw jacks with Kofi. Kofi slaps Shelton, so Shelton takes matt and throws him into Kofi. He rolls in to win via countout as Kofi rolls into the ring to take the fight to Shelton. Shelton with a hard throw into the steps. Shelton stalks Kofi as the referee gets in between the two men. Shelton heads to the back as Kofi holds his shoulder.
Winner: Shelton Benjamin by countout
Armando Estrada vs. Matt Hardy
Matt Hardy gets a huge ovation as Armando is still pissed. Well, we needed more wrestlers in ECW and I guess this helps. The bell rings and Matt catches a kick and slams Armando. Matt backed into the corner, but Matt punches his way out and hits another bodyslam. Matt to the second rope and Yodel time before a sledge to the back. Matt stalks him and Twist of Fate! Pinfall and it is obvious at 1:03.
Winner: Matt Hardy
Teddy Long comes out after the bell and tells the ref to stay around as Teddy Long gives him one more match to prove he is worth his contract.
Armando Estrada vs. Colin Delaney
Armando sprints out and gets a quick rollup for two. Armando clubs away and lifts up Colin, but he slips out and rolls up Estrada to get the three count in less than 30 seconds. Matt Hardy celebrates with the kid.
Winner: Colin Delaney
Teddy Long says he can fire Estrada and Estrada asks to be kept around until the draft. Teddy Long says Estrada can stay around as a non contracted wrestler, just like Colin was. Teddy has one more word of wisdom. Ron Simmons shows up… DAMN!
We go to coverage from the Los Angeles press conference about the McMahon Million Dollar Mania. Adamle is signing up, but he is not eligible. HA! Up next, it’s Main Event time.
Kane vs. CM Punk
So Punk beat three other men to get this non title match? Eh… I don’t buy it. The bell rings and starts try to go after the leg, but Punk just throws him off. Punk with a headlock, but Kane shoves him off and hits a shoulder block. Punk gets an arm wrench and Kane just shoves Punk down to the mat as they still feel each other out. Punk backed into the corner and Kane with an elbow and follows up with punches. Punk hits a kick to the gut and follows with several more to back him up. Kane gets clotheslined to the floor, but he lands on his feet. Punk dragged to the floor and Kane with a straight right hand. Back in the ring and Punk backed into the corner. Kane opens up on Punk and hangs Punk over his back with a choke. Punk slips out and goes with knees. He tries the high knee in the corner and Kane avoids it, dropping Punk on the top rope. Punk gets sent to the floor as we head to commercial at 3:30.
We are back at 6:00 and Punk fires away at Kane, but Kane reverses Punk’s go behind and hits a huge hip toss. Kane hits a low dropkick to the face of Punk and gets a two count. Punk gets pounded in the back by Kane and Kane goes to a body scissors. Punk gets rolled onto his shoulders, but Punk twice kicks out. Punk sits up and elbows out. Punk goes for kicks to the leg and gets a sunset flip for two. Punk’s momentum ends with a quick uppercut. Punk slips out of a snake eyes attempt, but Kane comes out of the corner with a huge clothesline for two. Body scissors locked on again by Kane and again he tries to gets Punk’s shoulders down. Punk rolls around and is able to escape. Punk starts firing away on Kane, but one shot again stops him. Punk goes back to kicking the leg of Kane. Punk ducks under Kane, but walks right into a kick to the face. Kane misses a clothesline in the corner and Punk hits three high knee to the face and tries the bulldog, but Kane with a back suplex. Punk kicks out at two and Tazz is shocked. Punk gets the boot up after being whipped into the corner and gets a two count of his own after a bulldog. Punk has the whip reversed and Kane hits a side slam. Kane heads up top and connects with the clothesline for another two count. Kane signals for the chokeslam, but Punk kicks him in the face. Kane chucks Punk to the ring apron. Punk tries the springboard clothesline, but Kane GOZZLES him! Punk slips out again and gets Kane up for the G2S, but his back gives out. Kane now connects with the chokeslam and gets the pinfall at 13:00
Winner: Kane
After the match, the Tag Team Champs come out and start a mugging on Kane. Miz and Morrison stand tall after the Reality Check by Miz. Kane looks pissed as always as we end the broadcast.
