Bully Ray Shares His Thoughts on Dominik Mysterio’s WWE RAW Match with John Cena

WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray has given his take on the WWE RAW match between John Cena and Dominik Mysterio, offering detailed remarks on Mysterio’s in-ring performance. Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Ray noted that Dominik displayed strong composure and skill while competing against one of WWE’s most experienced performers.

John Cena opened the episode in what was his last WWE RAW in his hometown alongside Triple H. Soon after, they were interrupted by Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio. After a series of jabs from Dom, The Game booked an impromptu title match between Cena and Mysterio.

Ray described the match as a challenge for a younger wrestler still building his place within the company. He said that facing an opponent of Cena’s stature presented both pressure and opportunity, praising Dominik’s ability to stay composed under the spotlight. Ray added that Mysterio held his ground against it being “an overwhelming spot to be in” (Via Wrestling Inc.).

“[I] loved Cena’s entrance, loved what John had to say. And then the MVP of the segment came out: ‘Dirty’ Dom,” Bully said. “Here is what impressed me about Dom: it would be very easy for anybody, in that moment, even a veteran [like] me, … to be a little bit of a deer in the headlights. That is a rough, rough spot to be in – an overwhelming spot to be in.”

Throughout the match, Dominik tried several heel antics to cheat his way to victory. However, Cena overcame it all and won the Intercontinental Title for the first time. This made him a Grand Slam Champion in WWE. Bully Ray praised Dom’s in-ring and mic skills and compared him to Floyd Mayweather.

“Dom Mysterio was the Floyd Mayweather of that segment last night,” Bully continued. “What I’m talking about is how calm Floyd Mayweather was in a boxing ring. … Dom was in the moment last night. Not only was Dom not a deer in the headlights, I felt Dom had it in his eyes that, ‘I’m gonna steal the show tonight.'”
