Chelsea Green says that there’s nothing she won’t say “no” to in WWE, and that’s helped make her a success in the company. Green is known for being willing to put herself in any situation for the company, whether it’s being left a mess in a Dumpster Match with Michin in 2024 or to being Laurel Van Ness in TNA. As she’s played a comedic character, her popularity has risen in the company and she’s become a multi-time Women’s United States Champion and AAA Mixed Tag Team Champion.

Green reflected on her philosophy toward saying “yes” in an interview with 93.7 The Fan. She noted that her willingness to do anything is setting her up for disaster, but has also led to her being used constantly by the company. She also spoke about how her motivations have evolved through the years. You can see the highlights below:

On What’s Kept Her Going in Wrestling:

“It’s crazy, because I’ve been doing this for 13 years now. It feels like two years but 13 years. And I think that always changes year to year. Because at first when I was working for TNA, it was always that drive to get to WWE. Then I did Lucha Underground where I was Reclusa and I did intergender wrestling, and it was kind of trying to get viral. And then I got to NXT in 2019 and it was, ‘I need to get to the main roster. I need to get to the big show, Raw, Smackdown. I need to get to WrestleMania.’ And then I was released and it was COVID and it was just like, ‘Let’s rebuild my name, let’s build my bank account. Let’s do things that I love and like get back to why I started wrestling because you lose that, right? Like you start getting so focused on these goals that seem impossible, and you lose why you love something.

“And then coming back to WWE the past three years, I feel like I have a whole new perspective. I’m turning 35 at the beginning of April and I just want stability. Like everyone gives me a hard time for being a professional loser in this industry because I’m always losing. But like, my bank account ain’t losing. My beautiful house that I built with my husband, that’s not losing. The dogs and cats that I have, the things that I’m able to treat my family to. I’m flying my best friend down from Canada to spend my birthday with me. Like, that is a luxury I never thought I would have. And that’s what I want for my future. But then ask me in in two more years, I don’t know. Maybe I’ll change my mind. Maybe I’ll be back to wanting to be on WrestleMania, I don’t know.”

On If There’s Anything She’ll Say ‘No’ To:

“Okay, I was just asked that question. I said no, but I feel like that’s setting myself up for absolute disaster. Do you know what I mean? There’s got to be something I’ll say no to. But at this point like I said, if the check clears, I’m doing it. You’re going to put me in a dumpster? Say less. Pour salsa on my head, say less. Like, I’ve done so many ridiculous things. And the crazy thing is that I think the most ridiculous was when I was the drunk bride, the drunk jilted bride in TNA in 2016, ’17. And I was single then, boys. That was real cringe. I don’t think it gets any worse than that.

“So at this point, I’m like — I’ll do anything. If I was an actress and I was in Hollywood and you gave me a role and it said do X, Y, and Z, I’m doing it. So, why would I treat WWE any different? And guess what? The people who say no, I get those opportunities. And I love that for me. That’s why last year I did more appearances than anyone else in the company. Because people want to — ever since COVID they do want to sit at home, they want to be homebodies. Don’t get me wrong, I love my couch. I love being at home. But if you are gonna say no, I’m going to say yes.”
