Complete wXw Dead End Results 5.19.12

Tonight El Generico won the wXw title in a great main event from Big Van Walter, the big austrian who has held the title for over a year now. El Generico won the 16 carat gold tournament earlier this year to earn his shot at the title. Generico put Walter away with his brainbuster after both had kicked out of each other’s finishers. The crowd went absolutely nuts. El Generico celebrated his win together with the audience dancing and singing along to his theme. It was a fantastic feel good moment after Walter’s long reign of terror. Generico has been a semi-regular guest for the promotion for over 7 years. He has always had good to great matches, and is the number one crowd favorite. Nevertheless his win came as a surprise, which made it even more fun.

Yoshihito Sasaki beat Axeman, retaining the Strong Heavyweight Championship, a belt which has only recently been introduced. It is a joint championship for Big Japan, CZW and wXw. This was an awesome match, which built slowly to a very strong finish. Axeman again showed that he is one of the best allround workers on the european scene, and Sasaki’s matches continue to amaze me.

Then there was the first ever cage match in wXw, Jon Ryan vs Johnny Moss. This was under cage escape rules and was a brutal affair with lots of blood. Ryan bled heavily early on, but fought back, gave Moss a crimson mask of his own and finally managed to escape the cage for the win. He went back in and wanted to give respect to Johnny Moss, after a long feud. Johnny shook his hand, but then blasted him with a lariat. He locked both into the cage again, keeping the keys. Moss killed Ryan. Security swarmed the cage, and tried to climb inside. Moss threw a chair against the cage’s walls and the poor guys fell down to the floor one by one. Then they simply started deconstructing the cage, and Moss left, hurting some members of the audience in the process. This was some intense stuff.
