Apollo Crews w/Titus O’Neil vs. Curt Hawkins: This is a rematch from last week, which of course, Hawkins lost. Crews overpowers Hawkins to begin. Hawkins talks trash but gets shoved down and Crews takes control, working shoulder tackles and then picking up the pace and hitting a dropkick. The slam and senton atomico follows for 2. The stalling suplex follows, and the crowd is pretty well into this so far. Hawkins counters the standing moonsault with knees and then lays the boots to Crews. A suplex follows for 2. Hawkins follows with strikes and a knee before working a modified camel clutch. Hawkins then trips Crews up and mocks Titus. Hawkins keeps the action grounded, but Crews fights to his feet, hits a kick but Hawkins cuts him off with a side slam. Hawkins up top and hits the elbow drop for 2. Crews then gets a roll up for 2. The backslide gets 2. The enziguri and Apollo bomb finishes Hawkins. Apollo Crews defeated Curt Hawkins @ 5:16 via pin [**½] Hawkins continues to lose, hitting 138. I wonder if there is an actual end game to this or if its just gimmick WWE is having fun with. This was a better match than last week, nothing special, but a nice and average outing with the crowd solidly responding to the action.

– Back to Raw for Roman Reigns vs. Elias. JIP as Reigns hits the superman punch, but Elias kicks out at 2. Really, we’re having Elias kick out of the superman punch? Why not I guess, everyone else has. Reigns looks for a spear, but heats a knee. Reigns rebounds, hits the spear, and that’s that. IC Champion Roman Reigns defeated Elias via pin [**½] Commentary tried to sell this as a classic or a coming out party for Elias, and it wasn’t either of those things. This was 90% of a house show match, slow and uninspired, with some kick out finishers to try and trick you into thinking it was special. Plus the super big dog comeback ending out of nowhere is such a shit way for Reigns to win matches, I hate the super Cena comeback as well, it just rarely works for me. – Back to Raw for the Absolution angle. JIP

– Back to Raw for . James’ music hits, but she doesn’t come out. Bayley’s music hits, and no Bayley. Paige, Sonya Deville, and Mandy Rose make their way to the ring, and Paige says Banks looks surprisingly good considering what they did to her last week. Paige shows footage of Mickie and Bayley backstage, obviously the victims of a beat down. Paige says she has been hounded by everyone, asking her to explain her actions, One year ago she was the woman to single-handedly erase the term diva from WWE, and the matriarch of the WWE evolution, Last week she made a statement, showing who she is and that she’s back. Bliss bails to the back as Paige introduces her fiends, who she calls “Absolution.” Rose says others may have forgotten, but before there were goddesses, empresses and horsewomen, there was Paige. But they didn’t forget her. Deville says every woman has pushed the competition and upped the game, but nothing was possible if it wasn’t for Paige. And together, absolution will turn into a different kind of evolution. Paige asks if banks will pledge her allegiance to them. Banks attacks Paige, but Rose and Deville attack and beat her down. Banks keeps fighting, but Paige joins in and then Deville lays out Banks with a head kick, Rose hits a glam slam, and Paige finishes her off with ram-Paige. I liked this, there was no need to give away the match away right now, and it made “Absolution” come off as smart and calculating, taking out their opponents and beating down Banks. I also loved that Bliss totally bailed before another beat down came her way. Mandy and Sonya were a bit rough on the promo front, but Sonya did a good job of running through the “what” chants and didn’t let them phase her. You can read my Raw Review at this link.

– Back to Smackdown for The Riott Squad’s big win. Ruby attacks Natalya right away, laying in clubbing strikes and tagging in Logan. Natalya tags out to Charlotte, and Natalya bails on her team. Ruby tags back in, grounding Charlotte. Charlotte hits a jawbreaker, but Logan takes out Naomi and slams her to the floor. Liv and Logan slam Naomi to the barricade and then slam her into the steps. Naomi is down and out as Charlotte is left alone. They now triple team Charlotte. Ruby tags back in, and Charlotte starts to fight back, running wild on all three. Logan hits a knee strike and Ruby takes her out with the modified PELE for the win. Ruby Riott, Sarah Logan, and Liv Morgan defeated Natalya, Charlotte, and Naomi via pin [**] The match was just ok, nothing wrong with it, but nothing special. The important thing is that the Riott Squad now only won, but went over strong in doing so. They were smart, divided and conquered, and it worked. Natalya walking out also made sense, since she only cares about herself. You can read my Smackdown Review at this link.

Kalisto and Gran Metalik vs. Jack Gallagher and Brian Kendrick: Kendrick and Metalik to begin. Metalik looks to pick up the pace right away, and scores an early near fall. Kalisto tags in, looks to work the arm and Kendrick pulls him down by the mask and tags out to Gallagher. Gallagher hits an arm drag, but Kalisto battles back with kicks, he tags in Metalik, they work double teams, but Kendrick makes the save and pulls Metalik to the floor. Post break, and Metalik is battling back and crawls for a tag and gets it. Kalisto runs wild on Kendrick, but Gallagher tags in and he gets taken out and Kalisto wipes out both with a high cross. Gallagher fights off Salida del sol but Metalik tags in, hits an enziguri and rope walk elbow on Gallagher for the win. Kalisto and Gran Metalik defeated Jack Gallagher and Brian Kendrick @ 4:55 via pin [**] This was perfectly solid, and fun, but felt like it had a chunk edited out, unfortunately.

– Back to Smackdown for Styles vs. The Singhs. JIP as Styles starts to fight the Singhs off, but a Singh chop blocks Styles to cut him off. They set Styles up top, but Styles fights them off and knocks them to the mat. Styles kicks Mahal to the floor, and catches one Singh and hits the Styles clash off the ropes onto the other Singh and picks up the win. AJ Styles defeated The Singh Brothers @ via pin [**] The wrestling was fine, but as an overall segment, I thought it was good. Mahal tried to take out Styles with a sneak attack and use of his minions but failed as the valiant babyface champion overcame the odds to stand tall. Mahal lays out both Singh brothers with the Khallas post match, completely losing and almost killing one of them. You can read my Smackdown Review at this link.

– Back to Raw for Kane vs. Jordan & then Balor. JIP as Kane tosses Jordan to the floor, and Jordan starts yelling and grabbing at his knee. He gets counted out. Kane defeated Jason Jordan via countout [NR] This was a thing that happened, hopefully it plays into Jordan’s heel turn. Kane kicks the shit out of Jordan post match, but Finn Balor arrives to make the save. Balor manages an enziguri from the apron and then dropkicks Kane to the floor. The plancha follows, and then a shotgun dropkick on the floor. Kane uses a chair and that’s a DQ. Finn Balor defeated Kane via DQ [NR] It existed, Finn still looks like a loser, but Kane looks strong in 2017. And yes, I get that they are going to sacrifice Kane to BRAUN, but there is no reason to destroy Balor along the way when there are so many disposable bodies backstage. – Kane beats the shit out of Balor with the chair and teases Pillmanizing his neck, but BRAUN is back. Kane lays into him with chair shots, but BRAUN no sells him. BRAUN then sends him to the floor, follows and nails Kane with the steps. Back in the ring and powerslams Kane on the steps. BRAUN then slams the chair into Kane’s throat two times as payback for last week. Hopefully Kane brings back the voice box and they book the big match to main event the Christmas show. That was a joke. You can read my Raw Review at this link.

– End scene.

– Thanks for reading.

The final score: review Not So Good
The 411
While I appreciate the fact that they have been finally including Smackdown on the show, I felt that week’s effort was below average, as the highlights weren’t exactly spectacular and the cruiserweight match was way too abrupt.
