Cuatrero made his return to the ring after three years amid his charges of domestic violence at an independent show in Mexico this month. As previously reported, Cuatrero — real name Rogelio Reyes — was arrested in March 2023 on charges of attempted femicide after he allegedly assaulted and attempted to strangle his then-girlfriend Stephanie Vaquer.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Cuatrero returned to the ring on March 6th to team with his cousin El Hijo de Mascara Ano 2000 against Monster Clown & Shocker at a show in Mazatlan. They were victorious in the match.
Cuatrero also did an interview with La Tijera in which, according to the WON, he said the case against him is ongoing but that his lawyer was able to overturn the prohibition against him wrestling. He was previously banned from wrestling while the case is ongoing. He also noted that he will continue to team up with Mascara Jr. on the indies and thanked AAA and those independent promoters who showed him public support.
Cuatrero was signed to AAA at the time of his arrest, and he is still believed to be under contract. The company has not used him since March of 2023, and Dave Meltzer said he didn’t expect they would be doing so or expressing public support for him at this point.
As noted, Vaquer shared a post for International Women’s Day on March 8th which said:
“This Women’s Day, a huge hug to all women, especially those who, like me, spoke up and reported despite fear and threats. He is still free, but I am still alive and I will keep fighting for the truth and justice until the end.”
