Darby Allin Reflects on His Relationship With Sting, Having Him Present for His World Title Win

AEW World Champion Darby Allin recently spoke with The Sportster for a new interview ahead of Double or Nothing. Darby Allin spoke about his relationship with Sting and having Sting present after he won the AEW World Title. You can see some highlights below:

Darby Allin on Having Sting Present for His World Title Win

“So after the win, you know, to have him there. It was definitely a full circle moment with everything and he’s been telling me for years like you got what it takes to be world champion and to have him be there. It’s like, you know, honestly, man, when it happened, I was so I was so spent emotionally and physically. Like I had no more words. And because after the show ended, they asked me like, ‘Hey, get on the microphone, talk to the crowd.’ And I said, ‘Everybody stay in your seats because we’re you’re going to be taping Collision right now.’ I had nothing left to say. You know what I mean? I’m not going to go out there and give a big rah-rah speech. But then I just But I just had nothing left in me, you know? Nothing left in me. I just wanted to be like, ‘Everybody stay there. We got more wrestling coming.’ And I just bounced. and yeah, it was it was a great feeling. But his mentorship has meant so much almost more so outside of the ring than it ever is inside the ring.”

His Thoughts on the Purity of AEW’s Roster

“A lot of it’s like so pure from the performers hearts like what they’re going off for. You know, a lot of times I feel like you can hear 10 different things from 10 different people on how to be you, but I feel like AW best captures like the pure essence of like that performer and it it’s like so good when when you live in that state because I’ve seen a lot of bands, you know, play at small clubs and then once they then go to big arenas by that time they have different, you know, people in the music industry telling them like, “Oh, this is going to be more profitable if if you do this or that or this or that and then they just become a shell of their former selves as well but when they were in the club like with a 100 people there just raw you know but I feel like we get to do that keep that raw energy but on just a massive scale.”

Darby Allin defends his AEW World Title against former champion MJF tonight at Double or Nothing. MJF must shave his head if he loses. AEW Double or Nothing 2026 takes place at Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York. It will be broadcast live on pay-per-view. 411 will also have live play-by-play coverage of the event.
