WWE is working on a documentary about John Cena retiring from the ring to release next year, according to a new report. As reported, Cena closed out his retirement tour with his final match against Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event last Saturday. The loss to Gunther put an end to Cena’s 26 year career in the ring, and closed out a retirement tour that began in January.
According to Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select, WWE is working on a documentary about Cena’s retirement. WWE had documentary crews at Saturday Night’s Main Event to film for the documentary. WWE is tentatively aiming for a mid-2026 release for the doc. While this part is not confirmed, Peacock is rumored to be the release platform for the documentary.
It’s not currently clear how extensive the documentary will be. The report notes that crews were at Saturday’s show but there’s no word on whether they filmed at other stops along the tour, or how much will be covered in the film.
As noted, John Cena confirmed that he has signed a five-year deal to be an ambassador for WWE.
