Finn Balor Says ‘The Prince Is Back,’ Kicking Johnny Gargano in the Head ‘Felt Good’
– Former WWE Universal champion Finn Balor appeared on last night’s edition of WWE Backstage and talked about his attack on Johnny Gargano earlier this week on NXT. Below is a video and some highlights of Balor’s Backstage appearance. During the chat, Balor mentioned that “The Prince” is back, harkening back to his days as Prince Devitt in NJPW.
Finn Balor on his return to NXT: “Everyone keeps talking about this like, ‘Why the return to NXT? Why you go back to NXT?’ For me, Raw and SmackDown is like Hollywood. It’s like the Avengers movies. It’s easy to hide behind special effects, and the bright lights, and the smoke. NXT is like Broadway. There’s nowhere to hide in NXT. I need to test myself. I want to go back to being the real me.”
Finn Balor on how his return felt: “It felt good making a return. It felt good. It felt better kicking Johnny Gargano in the head. It felt good standing back up, seeing him on the ground, seeing the people speechless. That felt good.”
Finn Balor on becoming who he is again: “You know, it’s stepping back into that world, but it’s also stepping back into who I am. I feel like maybe I haven’t been true to myself for a long time. … I’ve spoked to a lot of people. Seems like I’m a popular guy this week. A lot of people want a piece of Finn this week.”
Balor on this being the real him: “I say this is the real Finn Balor. You’re a big fan of my work from before WWE, right? …. Well, let’s just say The Prince is back.”
