Reigning AEW World Champion “Hangman” Adam Page recently revealed how he got into the wrestling business as a full-time professional.
In a recent interview with WXII 12 News, The Cowboy detailed his journey from wrestling on a trampoline as a 10-year-old to starting wrestling in an actual ring at the age of 16. He revealed that after finishing college, he started teaching at a high school, where he continued to wrestle weekly.
Five years into his teaching job, Hangman Page started making money from wrestling. It is at this point that he realized he could turn his passion into a full-time career.
“So I started wrestling, like, 10 years old on the trampoline, I think. I started training in an actual wrestling ring when I was 15. I was traveling all around North Carolina, doing little independent shows, and [I] started wrestling when I was 16. I went to Virginia Tech for college, finished there, came home, got a job at the high school, [and] was still wrestling every weekend there, and then at some point, I was about five years into teaching, and I started to actually make money at wrestling, which was kind of unusual, and I figured, you know, I think I can make a career out of this and have managed to since then,” Page said. Hangman Page is currently leading the AEW men’s division as its World Champion. He is set to defend his gold against Samoa Joe at Full Gear later this month.
