Reigning TNA World Tag Team Champion Matt Hardy recently opened up about the growth of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling over the past 12 months.

Over the past year or so, especially since entering a working relationship with WWE, the Nashville-based company has seen a rise in its popularity, with it attracting record-setting attendances at its recent events like Slammiversary and Bound for Glory.

Matt, who, along with his brother Jeff Hardy, has been an integral part of this golden period, commented on the contributing factors behind it during his recent appearance on Talk Is Jericho.

Broken Matt put over superstars like Nic Nemeth and Joe Hendry for their contributions towards TNA regaining its popularity, while also adding that the return of The Hardys got people interested again.

“It’s crazy! I think there’s a lot of things that factor in. I think it was really good when Nic Nemeth was there, and he was the world champion. I think he was a credible guy who was a big star in WWE for a while. Joe Hendry ended up becoming, like, this viral sensation. He was viral everywhere. That helped it out a lot. I came back over [and] showed up as Broken Matt. Jeff [Hardy] shortly thereafter showed up, and I feel like when we were in Chicago, whenever I wrestled Moose for the world title and Jeff showed up at the very end of that match, that was kind of the moment where everything changed. ‘Oh my God, the Hardys are back together, and they’re here in TNA,'” he said.

Matt also wished for the growth of all wrestling promotions for the betterment of the talents and people backstage.

“I want every promotion to do good because the more places that do good, the better it is for all the wrestlers, all the talent, [and] all the people that work backstage,” Matt added. “The more wrestling companies that are successful, the better.” [H/T: Wrestling Inc.]

Matt and Jeff Hardy are the current holders of the TNA World Tag Team Championship. They recently surpassed 100 days as champions. The duo lost the NXT Tag Team Championship to DarkState in a Broken Rules Match at last weekend’s Halloween Havoc Premium Live Event.
