Myles Borne is still the NXT North American Champion, retaining the title against Tavion Heights in a heavy battle at the NXT Great American Bash. The two former stablemates went to war over the title at Sunday’s PLE, their third match against each other.
Heights had a dominant run in the match and used his power and submission offense to wear the champion down. But Borne refused to give in and consistently battled back, hitting a powerslam for two at one point followed by a fisherman’s suplex.
The end of the match saw the action come back to the ring after some offense outside, with Heights in control. He hit a splash, but Borne came back with a German suplex and dropkick before nailing Borne Again for the pinfall victory and the title retention. You can see a couple of clips from the NXT Great American Bash match below.
The two shook hands in a show of respect after the match, and Borne was interviewed at ringside. He put Heights over before saying he intended to hold the title for a long time.
Borne’s title reign is now up to 125 days, having defeated Ethan Page for the title on the February 24th episode of WWE NXT.
