Nick Wayne Says Christian Cage Saw His Potential, Thanked Him For Proving Him Right

In an interview with the Battleground podcast (via Fightful), Nick Wayne spoke about his pairing with Christian Cage and how Cage saw the potential in the younger wrestler. The two are currently AEW Trios champions, along with Killswitch.

Wayne said: “He told me, he was like, ‘I wouldn’t have taken you in if I didn’t want to. I saw so much potential in you since you started here. I knew you had to come with me. So, thank you for proving me right.’ I couldn’t help but just have the biggest smile on my face as he said, ‘Thank you for proving me right.’ I was like, ‘There’s no way that Christian is telling me this right now.’ Getting to know him throughout the last year, just as humans and wrestlers, we have so many similarities, honestly. In wrestling, things we’ve run into, in life, in people we know, we just have so many similarities. So maybe he saw that before I knew it before we got to know each other, but overall, he just saw potential in me, and he saw something in me that others didn’t see. He’s brought something out of me that no one’s ever seen, something I didn’t know I had. I truly think it was the legend’s eye; he sees potential, and he’s like, ‘I want to get at that. I want to elevate him.’“
