Note On Backstage Reaction In WWE To Cody Rhodes Likely Rejoining Company

Cody Rhodes has officially exited AEW, and in another new update, Mike Johnson of PWInsider has more details on the backstage reaction in WWE to Rhodes potentially returning to the company.

According to Johnson, WWE sources have confirmed they’ve had “contact” with Rhodes since his AEW deal expired at the end of last year, with all signs pointing to a deal being close to finalized between the two parties.

Johnson also notes that there is excitement among some talent in WWE about the possibility of Rhodes returning, while others have noted that from a strategic standpoint, Rhodes would become the first to jump from AEW to WWE and he’d have intimate knowledge of AEW’s inner workings.

Additionally, the report states that as of this afternoon, Rhodes is not on the company’s internal roster, but the signing is expected to happen and one source mentioned Rhodes could even be at the WWE Performance Center as early as this weekend to prepare for his return.

Meanwhile, as for the AEW Community Outreach Department which Rhodes was deeply involved in, Johnson reports Amanda Huber will be taking over that section within the company.
