Reason Behind Randy Orton Not Attending John Cena’s Farewell Match At WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event

John Cena wrestled his final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event in front of a packed Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. Most of the WWE roster, including top stars like CM Punk and Cody Rhodes, were present to witness the historic moment. However, one of Cena’s greatest rivals, Randy Orton, was nowhere to be seen.
This is because The Viper was in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, alongside several other WWE Superstars to attend the grand opening of top YouTuber MrBeast’s theme park, Beast Land. The visit is a part of WWE’s ongoing relationship with Saudi Arabia.
Orton also shared a video recently in which he confirmed his appearance on the go-home episode of SmackDown ahead of the Royal Rumble on January 30. This came after WWE advertised The Viper for the same on its website a few days ago. Randy has been absent from WWE television for more than two months now. He was last seen on the October 3 episode of SmackDown, where The Vision’s Bronson Reed took him out via multiple Tsunamis.
Randy and Cena started their careers together more than two decades ago and went on to become the bedrocks of the company on which the subsequent generations of WWE Superstars have been built. No one faced Cena more than Randy during his 23-year career, and their final meeting took place in the latter’s hometown at Backlash 2025. While he was unable to attend Cena’s final match due to other commitments, Randy sent his tribute to the 17-time World Champion ahead of Saturday Night’s Main Event.

He won’t be in attendance for his final match tonight. #ThankYouCena
