A new report is throwing cold water on the notion of Adam Copeland appearing in WWE to face John Cena. As noted, fan speculation has been strong regarding the former Edge appearing in WWE to face Cena despite his being under AEW contract. That situation has always been unlikely, and the latest Fightful Select Answers Q&A definitively states it is not happening.
The Q&A answered a question about Adam Copeland potentially appearing in AEW and said that there have been “no conversations, and no conversations about conversations.” Sean Ross Sapp noted that the matter hasn’t even been broached beyond whether he’s under contract with AEW (he is). Sapp noted that Tony Khan would not allow such a thing to happen and there has never been a possibility of the match.
WWE is holding the Last Time Is Now Tournament to determine Cena’s final opponent. The tournament kicked off on Raw with Sheamus and Rusev advancing.
Cena will have his last match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13th in Washington, DC. The show airs live on Peacock.
